It always starts with that hideous sound "crunch, crunch, crunch" as his feet keep hitting the gravel of the park, and my ignorant self just started to speed up, unknowing of the beast that was slowly following me, at the time I was thinking about how much I hated to use heels.
The heels kept sinking in the gravel, as I speed up thinking that those steps behind me were going nearer, maybe some guy would help me out of this somehow, maybe he just passes by and blatantly ignores me, my god, I now wished he had done it.
—Lady, I see you are a bit challenged by the... Gravel, can I help you? And when I turned to see his face, I only saw those bloodshot eyes, I was so filled with fear that in a jolt **I woke up**, trembling and wanting to scream I stand up looking at the wall on the right, as his eyes still linger in my mind, the eyes of my rapist.

Feeling alone and wanting to scream are a bad mix in the middle of the night after all, so I started walking, took a box of cigarettes, and went to the base floor of the building, the security guard there, Jerry, is an odd friend of mine, he is a retired cop, and it reminds me of the following day.
I barely remember the cops picking me up in the morning, I was badly wounded but alive, the physician was an old woman, she looked at me with pained and sad eyes that I didn't understand at the moment, her pain was evident, knowing that there was another victim.
They told me that I was not the first, it happened in that area before and several times to boot, there were no clues, he used tools and did his best to not leave any evidence of any kind behind him, and he sure did a number of me, a month in the hospital says a lot about someone one health.

After leaving the radically clean and lighted hospital, I realized that I needed more help, I was a wreck and needed someone to talk to about what happened, my friends and family sympathized with me but failed to properly understand my dreams, about the terror I felt when facing his eyes.
Those eyes were not human, and that was not the most disturbing part of them, it was that they looked so similar to my own in current days, that chronic lack of sleep, that slight drug addiction, when I look at my wall, right in the middle of it, where my full body mirror is, I can see his eyes staring back at me.
My psychologist says that I'm just mirroring his behavior as a way to cope with the trauma, and while I'm remembering all of this, Jerry does his usual Jerry stuff, small talk:
—Are you ok, Lidia? —Do you want to have a smoke? —One of those days, huh, did you see his face today? —I'm still wondering how the bastard looks, so no, if I did, I would have called the cops already.

Jerry was a fine guy, and he always took care of me, each time we go out for a smoke he talked about games and nerd stuff he loved, and he always looks into my eyes and says that ominous phrase, "Every person has a personal silent hill..." As a way to make me know that one day my monster would live through his ordeal.
But If I'm honest, I want him to have my ordeal, to have constant night horrors, to relive his assault over and over again, yet life ain't giving me that chance, as we entered the lobby again we both could hear the news on the TV.
—The angel's square rapist has been caught while attempting another crime... He seemed to have mementos, and photos with him on his cellphone... Police will contact the victims for the trial, in other news... —Hey, that is great, right Lidia? You're going to get the justice you deserve.
I said it was "great" as I walked to the stairs faking a euphoric smile on my face while thinking to buy a gun, knowing that all I wanted was to make him live the same thing he did to me or at least die, just like I felt on my inside.
I remember the last words he said to me "I own you", just before knocking me out, and I wanted to push a metal bar with those words market on deep into his arse, I wanted vengeance, not justice.

As I walked upstairs floor by floor, I focused over and over again on the news, took my phone out, at 3:34 am, this going to hit the captain like a boot in the butt, but I will call him... Soon I hear his voice, captain Davis was a good man and complained about the media, saying that I was supposed to do a blind identification no matter what, it was kind of late but they got the right guy, I was sure as I told him on the phone, as I would never forget those eyes.

A quick talk with the captain inside the local police department the next morning gave me an easy way to follow the trial, if I ever chose not to participate, the thing was, that I wanted. He tried to talk me out of it until mid-morning, but even if I was his latest victim, I wanted to know the others and talk with them, I wanted to be able to comfort each other and have a little bit of sorority in my life, I also wanted to ask them if they ever had dreams...
At the start it was harsh, hearing word by word all of those revivals of the events with graphic details, and they came in waves, one after another, tears run along my cheeks as I bit deep into my libs, I wanted blood yet justice dint do that anymore, and many of them talked about how they relived it daily by dreams, like him somehow marked them.
The "burning" words were a bit familiar to me, all of them had an "I own you" before being hit in the head until we were left unconscious, yet I was surprised to find a man among the victims, as the angel's square rapist was a "feminist", and he equally raped men as well as woman, "I am a man of total equality" he said while smiling.

At the time the defendant finally hit the stage for his cross-interview, he tried not to plead not guilty, instead, he went for insanity, as he was as mentally degenerated as possible, and in a twisted way, he surprised even the lawyers.
As the beast he was, he slowly told the audience of the trial of each of the "events" and how they happened, what he was thinking, and how his brain somehow lost control of his body as he... Him... Did that to us.
The lawyers had their war, the judge and the jury saw how the trial became a battlefield, media had a blast out of it, they talked both against and in favor of him to some point, as he continued to call himself a madman and no one even doubt him as he was a sadistic monster.
But all I could hear was how he kept moving his feet under the table, that hideous "crunch, crunch, crunch" was playing on my mind even if I knew they werent real, and I was shaking due to my anger and anxiety.
The trial eventually got a specified decision, he was to be imprisoned for his actions, there were no freebies in the world the judge said while his hammer hit down sentencing those bloodshot eyes to a life in prison, keeping me forever unable to take my revenge.

After the trial, I decided that I would buy a gun, after all, my blood thirst ain't satisfied and news coverage spoke about a nearby street where a rapist had one of those "events" with a surviving teenager.
She described him as a 50-year-old man with shady eyes and a creepy smile, a scar on his forehead, and blue eyes, I had my target, all I need is a gun and a metal stick with a lovely "I own you" on it.
After all, serial killers have different names by the media, but I wanted to be called, "I own you" it would be a nice touch, and went I do get caught I would mail my rapist, bragging about how he inspired me to clean the streets of guys like him, as I had nothing to lose and a lot of pen up hatred, and as hate never ends, neither would our penance in Silent Hill, both mine and his, I know we will meet again someday, and he will finally see my bloodshot eyes.

This story came to me in a weird mixed way, a few days ago I was walking on the plaza with my fiancee and I felt freaked out by a guy walking behind us extremely close, to the point that I bet he could smell if I farted or not, and I tell you, If you can do that, you are walking way too close.
The point is that I felt deeply persecuted and that dread moved past from reality to dreams, and that night I had a nightmare of bloodshot eyes following me around everywhere and the feeling of impending doom that came with it, so I took inspiration and translate it into a story, what do you think, did you like the origin story for Lidia? Siempre empieza con ese horrible sonido "crunch, crunch, crunch" mientras sus pies golpeaban la grava del parque y en mi ignorancia empiezo a acelerar, sin saber de la bestia que me seguía lentamente, en ese momento estaba pensando en lo mucho que odiaba usar tacones.
Los tacones seguían hundiéndose en la grava, mientras yo aceleraba la marcha pensando que esos pasos detrás de mí se acercaban cada vez más, tal vez algún tipo me ayudaría a salir de esto de alguna manera, tal vez simplemente pasara de largo y me ignoraría descaradamente, dios mío, ahora deseo que lo hubiera hecho.
—Señora, veo que está un poco hundida en la... Grava, ¿Puedo ayudarla? Y cuando me giré para ver su rostro, solo vi esos ojos inyectados de sangre, me llené tanto de miedo que en un sacudón me desperté, temblando y con ganas de gritar me pongo de pie mirando a la pared de la derecha, ya que sus ojos aún perduran en mi mente, los ojos de mi violador.

Sentirse sola y querer gritar son una mala mezcla en medio de la noche después de todo, así que empecé a caminar, cogí una caja de cigarrillos y me dirigí a la planta base del edificio, el guardia de seguridad de allí, Jerry, es un extraño amigo mío, es un policía retirado, y me recuerda al día siguiente.
Apenas recuerdo que los policías me recogieron por la mañana, estaba malherida pero viva, el médico era una mujer mayor, me miraba con ojos doloridos y tristes que yo no entendía en ese momento, su dolor era evidente, sabiendo que había otra víctima.
Me dijeron que yo no era la primera, que ya había pasado antes en esa zona y varias veces además, no había pistas, utilizó herramientas e hizo todo lo posible por no dejar pruebas de ningún tipo tras de sí, y vaya si hizo mella en mí, un mes en el hospital dice mucho de la salud de alguien.

Después de salir del hospital radicalmente limpio e iluminado, me di cuenta de que necesitaba más ayuda, estaba destrozada y necesitaba a alguien con quien hablar de lo sucedido, mis amigos y mi familia se solidarizaban conmigo pero no entendían bien mis sueños, ni el terror que sentía al enfrentarme a sus ojos.
Esos ojos no eran humanos, y eso no era lo más perturbador de ellos, era que se parecían tanto a los míos en los días actuales, esa falta crónica de sueño, esa ligera adicción a las drogas, cuando miro a mi pared, justo en medio de ella, donde está mi espejo de cuerpo entero, puedo ver sus ojos mirándome fijamente.
Mi psicólogo dice que sólo estoy reflejando su comportamiento como una forma de hacer frente al trauma, y mientras recuerdo todo esto, Jerry hace sus cosas habituales de Jerry, hablando nimiedades:
—¿Estás bien, Lidia? —¿Quieres fumar? —Uno de esos días, ¿Eh? ¿Viste su cara hoy? —Todavía me estoy preguntando cómo es el cabrón, así que no, si lo hubiera hecho, ya habría llamado a la policía.

Jerry era un buen tipo y siempre cuidaba de mí, cada vez que salíamos a fumar hablaba de juegos y cosas de frikis que le encantaban y siempre me miraba a los ojos y me decía esa frase siniestra: "Cada persona tiene una silent hill personal...". Como una forma de hacerme saber que algún día mi monstruo viviría su calvario.
Pero si soy honesta, quiero que el tenga mi calvario, que tenga constantes horrores nocturnos, que reviva su asalto una y otra vez, sin embargo la vida no me esta dando esa oportunidad, al entrar lobby nuevamente ambos pudimos escuchar las noticias en el televisor.
—El violador de la plaza del ángel ha sido capturado mientras intentaba otro crimen... Parecía tener recuerdos, y fotos con él en su móvil... La policía se pondrá en contacto con las víctimas para el juicio, en otras noticias... —Oye, eso es genial, ¿Verdad, Lidia? Vas a tener la justicia que te mereces.
Dije que era "genial" mientras caminaba hacia las escaleras fingiendo una sonrisa eufórica en mi rostro a la vez que pensaba en comprar un arma, sabiendo que lo único que quería era hacerle vivir lo mismo que me hizo a mí o al menos morir, tal y como yo me sentía en mi interior.
Recuerdo las últimas palabras que me dijo "me perteneces", justo antes de noquearme, y quise clavarle una barra de metal con esas palabras en el culo, queria venganza, no justicia.

Mientras subía piso por piso, me centré una y otra vez en las noticias, saqué mi teléfono, y a las 3:34 am, esto le va a dar al capitán como una patada en el culo, pero le llamaré... Pronto escucho su voz, el capitán Davis era un buen hombre y se quejaba de los medios de comunicación, diciendo que tenía que hacer una identificación a ciegas pasara lo que pasara, era un poco tarde pero dieron con el tipo correcto, estaba segura como le dije por teléfono, ya que nunca olvidaría esos ojos.

Una rápida charla con el capitán dentro del departamento de policía local a la mañana siguiente me dio una forma fácil de seguir el juicio, si alguna vez decidía no participar, la cosa era, que yo quería. Intentó disuadirme hasta media mañana, pero aunque yo fuera su última víctima, quería conocer a las demás y hablar con ellas, quería poder reconfortarme y tener un poco de sororidad en mi vida, también quería preguntarles si alguna vez habían tenido sueños...
Al principio fue duro, escuchar palabra por palabra todas esas reviviscencias de los hechos con detalles gráficos, y venían en oleadas, una tras otra, las lágrimas corrían por mis mejillas mientras mordía profundamente mis labios, quería sangre pero la justicia ya no lo hacía, y muchas de ellas hablaban de cómo lo revivían a diario por sueños, como si él de alguna manera las hubiera marcado.
Las palabras "que las marcaron" me eran un poco familiares, todas tenían un "me perteneces" antes de ser golpeadas en la cabeza hasta dejarnos inconscientes, sin embargo me sorprendió encontrar a un hombre entre las víctimas, ya que el violador de la plaza del ángel era "feminista", y violaba por igual a hombres que a mujeres, "soy un hombre de igualdad total" decía mientras sonreía.

En el momento en que el acusado finalmente subió al escenario para su interrogatorio cruzado, intentó no declararse inocente, en su lugar, se decantó por la locura, ya que estaba lo más degenerado mentalmente posible, y de una manera retorcida, sorprendió incluso a los abogados.
Como la bestia que era, contó lentamente a la audiencia del juicio cada uno de los "sucesos" y cómo ocurrieron, en qué estaba pensando y cómo su cerebro perdió de alguna manera el control de su cuerpo mientras... El... Nos hizo eso.
Los abogados tuvieron su batalla, el juez y el jurado vieron como el juicio se convertía en un campo de guerra, los medios de comunicación se lo pasaron de maravilla, hablaron tanto en contra como a favor de él hasta cierto punto, mientras él seguía llamándose a sí mismo loco y nadie dudaba de él ya que era un monstruo sádico.
Pero lo único que oía era como seguía moviendo los pies por debajo de la mesa, ese horrible "crunch, crunch, crunch" era un juego en mi mente aun sabiendo que no eran reales, y temblaba debido a mi rabia y ansiedad.
El juez dijo que no había nada gratis en el mundo mientras su martillo golpeaba sentenciando a esos ojos inyectados en sangre a una vida en prisión, manteniéndome para siempre incapaz de vengarme.

Después del juicio, decidí que me compraría una pistola, después de todo, mi sed de sangre no está satisfecha y las noticias hablaban de una calle cercana donde un violador tuvo uno de esos "eventos" con una adolescente superviviente.
Ella lo describió como un hombre de 50 años con ojos sombríos y una sonrisa espeluznante, una cicatriz en la frente y ojos azules, tenía mi objetivo, todo lo que necesito es una pistola y un palo de metal con un adorable "I own you" en él.
Después de todo, los asesinos en serie tienen diferentes nombres en los medios de comunicación, pero yo quería que me llamaran "I own you", sería un buen toque, y cuando me atraparan, enviaría un correo a mi violador, presumiendo de cómo me inspiró para limpiar las calles de tipos como él, ya que no tenía nada que perder y un montón de odio, y como el odio nunca termina, tampoco lo haría nuestra penitencia en Silent Hill, tanto la mía como la suya, sé que nos volveremos a encontrar algún día, y él finalmente verá mis ojos inyectados en sangre y aprenderá a temerlos como yo lo hice.

Esta historia me llegó de una manera rara mezclada, hace unos días estaba caminando en la plaza con mi prometida y me sentí asustado por un tipo que caminaba detrás de nosotros extremadamente cerca, al punto que apuesto que podía oler si me tiraba un pedo o no, y les digo, si puedes hacer eso, estas caminando demasiado cerca.
El caso es que me sentí profundamente perseguido, ese pavor pasó de la realidad a los sueños, y esa noche tuve una pesadilla en la que unos ojos inyectados en sangre me seguían a todas partes y la sensación de fatalidad inminente que eso conllevaba, así que me inspiré y lo plasmé en una historia, ¿Que piensan al respecto?
