I had previously commented that the whole topic of skincare is something I am passionate about; since two years ago I have researched and read a ton of information about this, since I suffered a serious problem with acne at that time. Nowadays, my skin is healthy and looks great compared to those days, so I would love to tell you my story and prove that a good skin care does give good results 😌

En la actualidad mi piel está sana y luce muy bien en comparación a aquellos días, por lo tanto, me encantaría contarte mi historia y demostrar que un buen cuidado de la piel sí da buenos resultados 😌

My skin type has always been oily, so I have had to deal with blackheads, pimples and blackheads, and the spots they leave on the skin. There were worse seasons than others, but until then I knew how to handle it, then came the pandemic and that was the straw that broke the camel's back. High levels of anxiety and stress can have consequences on our health, and one of the things that can be affected is our skin, so during the quarantine for the pandemic, my acne outbreaks increased, they were more constant and abundant, that's why I decided to enter the world of skincare. My mother had told me about some products that they sold in the pharmacy and had a good reputation on social networks, and I asked her to buy them for me, because I was really at a point that I could not stand seeing my face like that 🙁 My mom gave me the cleanser, day and night cream from this brand that we had seen, and I started using them with so much excitement, the first day I was so happy. Until a few weeks later. The breakout I had before was small in comparison to how my skin reacted to these products, my skin health went completely out of control. I know it was the fault of the products, but I also don't want to bad mouth the brand because I don't know if it was personal, a bad reaction from my skin, or it was totally the fault of the formulas of the products. What I do is simply not recommend them to my friends, for fear that the same thing will happen to them.

El tipo de mi piel siempre ha sido grasoso, por lo cual he tenido que lidiar con espinillas, granos y puntos negros, y las manchas que dejan en la piel. Había temporadas peores que otras, pero hasta entonces sabía como manejarlo, luego llegó la pandemia y eso fue la gota que derramó el vaso. Los altos niveles de ansiedad y estrés pueden tener consecuencias en nuestra salud, y una de las cosas que puede verse afectada es nuestra piel, así que durante la cuarentena mis brotes de acné aumentaron, eran más constantes y abundantes, por eso decidí entrar al mundo del skincare. Mi madre me había comentado de unos productos que vendían en la farmacia y tenían buena fama en las redes sociales, y le pedí que me los comprara, porque de verdad estaba en un punto que no soportaba ver mi rostro de esa manera 🙁 Mi madre me regaló el limpiador, la crema de día y de noche de esta marca que habíamos visto, y los comencé a utilizar con tanta ilusión, el primer día me sentí tan feliz. Hasta unas semanas después. El brote que tenía antes era pequeño en comparación a como reaccionó mi piel a estos productos, la salud de mi piel se descontroló completamente. Sé que fue por culpa de los productos, pero tampoco quiero hablar mal de la marca porque no sé si fue algo personal, una mala reacción de mi piel, o fue totalmente culpa de las fórmulas de los productos. Lo que hago es simplemente no recomendárselos a mis amigas, por miedo que le suceda lo mismo.

Every day my skin looked worse, the pimples were very big and extremely painful, they were not only leaving spots, but also marks on the skin, like indentations. My skin looked red, and it itched too much 😢 And my self-esteem? Well, it was lower to the ground. Our face is the first thing other people see, and I don't want to sound shallow, but I consider it is true that when we don't feel good about something in that area, it affects our self-esteem. And I literally hated all the skin on my face. At that time the quarantine restrictions were slowly coming down, we could go out to different places, but I started my own quarantine in my room. I didn't want to go out, I didn't want to see anyone, I didn't feel like doing anything. And my parents decided to take me to a dermatologist, because the situation was getting worse. It wasn't just for aesthetics, my cheeks were really hurting, and my skin was itching all over. I remember wearing a giant face mask and a cap, to cover my whole face, and going to the doctor 🫤 I was definitely having a horrible allergic reaction to those products. I had blood tests, and then I was quickly prescribed treatment. I don't remember the name of the pills, but I know they were strong; likewise, I had to use a cream every night with a special formula for my problem, it was zinc-based, which helped with the inflammation and scarring, and with the skin texture in general. Apart from that, I could only use two cosmetic products that the doctor recommended, a specific cleansing soap for facial skin and sunscreen. The day I started applying everything the doctor prescribed, I decided to take a monthly photo of my skin, to see if there were results. I show them below.

Cada día mi piel se veía peor, los granos eran muy grandes y sumamente dolorosos, ya no solo estaban dejando manchas, sino también marcas en la piel, como hendiduras. Mi piel en ese momento se veía roja, y me picaba demasiado😢 ¿Y mi autoestima? Bueno, estaba más abajo del suelo. Nuestro rostro es lo primero que ven las demás personas, y no quiero sonar superficial, pero considero que es cierto que cuando no nos sentimos bien con algo de esa zona, afecta en nuestra autoestima. Y literalmente odiaba toda la piel de mi rostro. En ese momento ya estaban bajando poco a poco las restricciones de la cuarentena, ya podíamos salir a diferentes lugares, pero yo comencé mi propia cuarentena en mi cuarto. No quería salir, no quería ver a nadie, no tenía ánimos de hacer nada. Y mis padres decidieron llevarme a un dermatólogo, porque la situación estaba empeorando. No era solo por la estética, de verdad me dolían las mejillas y me picaba toda la piel. Recuerdo haber usado un tapabocas gigante y una gorra, para cubrir todo mi rostro, e ir al médico 🫤 Definitivamente, estaba teniendo una horrible reacción alérgica a esos productos. Me hicieron exámenes de sangre, y luego rápidamente me recetaron tratamiento. No recuerdo el nombre de las pastillas, pero sé que eran fuertes; de igual manera, tuve que usar cada noche una crema con una fórmula especial para mi problema, era a base de zinc, que ayudó con la inflamación y cicatrización, y con la textura de la piel en general. Aparte de eso, solo podía utilizar dos productos cosméticos que me recomendó la doctora, un jabón limpiador especifico para la piel de la cara y protector solar. El día que comencé aplicar todo lo que me recetó la doctora, decidí tomarme una foto mensual de mi piel, para observar si había resultados. Te las muestro a continuación.

At that time I wouldn't have had the courage to show those photos, I just wanted to hide; but now I feel better, and I wanted to show you what good skincare does✨ The first three months were difficult, but thanks to those photos I could realize that little by little my skin was healing. And that's how skincare is, it's a job where patience and constancy are very important. There is no miracle product that will help you in days or a few weeks, so don't be fooled; usually after a month you start to see some results. The skin has its own restoration cycle, and you have to give it time to recover🌸 Since I didn't want to go through the same thing again, during that time I read various articles on cosmetology, and obviously I'm not an expert, but I was able to forge some useful knowledge. I learned the importance of drinking plenty of water, keeping pillowcases clean, having a towel just for our face; also, I learned what skincare actives were, what exfoliants are, the different skin types and how to put together a skincare routine for each one, and above all, I learned that we shouldn't trust the first thing the packaging of a product says, you should always look at the ingredients that make up the formulas and look for reviews of the products. Do a test on the skin of the neck to see if it does not irritate you and do not start using something new every day at once, you have to introduce it calmly in the routine so that the skin adapts.

En aquel momento no hubiera tenido la valentía de mostrar esas fotos, solo quería esconderme; pero ahora me siento mejor, y quería demostrarles lo que hace un buen cuidado de la piel✨ Los tres primeros meses fueron difíciles, pero gracias a esas fotos pude darme cuenta de que poco a poco iba sanando mi piel. Y así es el skincare, es un trabajo donde la paciencia y constancia son muy importantes. No hay un producto milagroso que te ayude en días o pocas semanas, así que no te dejes engañar; normalmente a partir de un mes es que comienzas a ver un poco los resultados. La piel tiene su propio ciclo de restauración y debes darle tiempo en recuperarse🌸 Como no quería volver a pasar por lo mismo, durante ese tiempo leí diversos artículos sobre cosmetología, y obviamente no soy una experta, pero pude forjar un conocimiento útil. Aprendí la importancia de tomar agua en abundancia, de mantener limpia las fundas de las almohadas, tener una toalla solo para nuestro rostro; además, aprendí cuáles eran los activos del skincare, qué son los exfoliantes, los diferentes tipos de piel y cómo armar una rutina de cuidado de la piel para cada uno, y sobre todo, aprendí que no debemos confiarnos en lo primero que dice el empaque de un producto, siempre debes ver los ingredientes que conforman las fórmulas y buscar reseñas de los productos. Hacer una prueba en la piel del cuello para saber si no te irrita y no comenzar a usar algo nuevo todos los días de una vez, debemos introducirlo con calma en la rutina para que la piel se adapte.

I started going to the spa for facials; I started a morning and evening routine, and I became very strict in following each step as it should be, as well as being consistent and not skipping even one day. And very importantly: less is more. We don't need a very extensive and highly expensive routine to have glowing skin, we need just enough, and you can find affordable products that have a good result. Obviously, sometimes we can include something on the side, like a mask or a scrub, on those days when our skin needs a little extra love💗

Comencé a ir al spa para hacer tratamientos faciales; inicié una rutina matutina y nocturna, y me convertí en alguien muy estricta en seguir cada paso como debe ser, además de ser constante y no saltarme ni siquiera un día. Y muy importante: menos es más. No necesitamos una rutina muy extensa y altamente costosa para tener una piel reluciente, necesitamos lo justo y necesario, y sí se pueden encontrar productos económicamente accesibles que tengan un buen resultado. Obviamente, a veces podemos incluir algo aparte, como una mascarilla o un exfoliante, esos días que nuestra piel necesita un poco de amor extra💗

Sometime this year (I really don't remember the date😂) it will be two years of this whole adventure, since that day I started the treatment. Nowadays, I just faithfully and strictly follow my skin care routine, I no longer take pills or use creams specially formulated for my skin. Yes, I became quite delicate about it, but I think it's understandable after all the process I went through. But I also found something else that I'm passionate about and that really makes me happy🥰 I'm looking for a place in Barquisimeto to go back for a deeper facial cleansing, and there are also some products I want to include in my routine... but that would be another topic.

En algún momento de este año (de verdad no recuerdo la fecha😂) se cumplirán dos años de toda esta aventura, desde ese día que comencé el tratamiento. En la actualidad solo sigo fiel y estrictamente una rutina de cuidado de la piel, ya no tomo pastillas ni uso cremas formuladas especialmente para mi piel. Sí, me volví bastante delicada con el tema, pero creo que es algo entendible después de todo el proceso que sufrí. Pero también encontré otra cosa que me apasiona y que realmente me hace feliz🥰 Estoy buscando un lugar en Barquisimeto para volver a hacer una limpieza facial más profunda, y también hay algunos productos que quiero incluir en mi rutina… pero eso ya sería otro tema.

Before I didn't want to wear a drop of makeup, because I didn't even want to see myself in a mirror, I felt like a monster. Then I became obsessed with makeup, and I couldn't go out if I wasn't made up, because I needed to hide the blemishes. Now, I don't care, because my skin by itself looks healthy🥰🌸 Makeup is just an accessory, if I feel like doing it I do it, and if I'm in a hurry with my skincare routine it's enough, it doesn't matter anymore that people see my skin as it is, I don't need to hide anymore. The important thing is not to be perfect, the real mission is to have healthy skin✨ I still get pimples, especially with menstruation, and there are still some blemishes to fight, but compared to a few years ago, I know my skin looks beautiful, and I am very happy with the whole process. It wasn't easy, and it takes time, but it's not impossible, really proper skin care can work wonders✨✨✨

Antes no quería usar ni una gota de maquillaje, porque ni siquiera quería verme en un espejo, me sentía un monstruo. Luego me obsesioné con el maquillaje, y no podía salir si no estaba maquillada, porque necesitaba esconder las manchas. Ahora, me da igual, porque mi piel por sí sola luce sana🥰🌸 El maquillaje es solo un accesorio, si tengo ánimos de hacerlo, y si estoy apurada con mi rutina de skincare es suficiente, ya no importa que las personas vean mi piel tal cual es, ya no necesito esconderme. Lo importante no es que sea perfecta, la verdadera misión es tener una piel saludable✨ Aún me salen espinillas, especialmente con la menstruación, y todavía hay algunas manchas que combatir, pero en comparación a unos años atrás, sé que mi piel luce hermosa, y estoy demasiado feliz con todo el proceso. No fue fácil, y toma el tiempo necesario, pero no es imposible, realmente un adecuado cuidado de la piel puede hacer maravilas✨✨
