Hello, Writing Club community!

Have you ever wondered what would have been if you didn't choose to push someone out of your life? I have wondered that for a couple of decades now, and I feel like it's finally time to give up on getting her back, but not before I tell you our story, her story, as I'm just a shadow in her life a part of the background.
Background, that is the right word, I chose to be that, a friend that was rather close but yet still a friend, someone that stayed close enough to be called Aunt by her kids, yet far enough to never be able to kiss her again, and above all, I am a friend that went to the wedding of the love of her life and smiled because she believed she was better single than married to her.
I am a fool that paraded as a friend for years until she realized too late the mistake she had made, and how she let her one chance in life for the perfect woman go and married a man of all things, a man... As an old hag, that is trying to teach a single young but foolish man to not make my mistake with the love of his life, after all, I'm your aunt, and I'm not blind.

As soon as you called me Aunt for the first time, my life changed, back then John, you were a lovely child with a wide smile and shiny green eyes, the cutest child I have ever seen, yet the bond solidified at your first birthday party.
You convinced me to invest heavily into you, it was not something I decided willingly, you bargained with me and played with my emotions, all of those motherly feelings I had were earned by you that day, with a single smile and wonderful "unt, unt, aaaaaaanunt".
For you, it might read like a silly thing, but it was the final nail in my coffin, it was that one thing that made me say, I'm going to stay in my lost love life, no matter what, and it was you, John, my smiling green-eyed monster.

Monster, you were that for a long time, believe me when I tell you that your mother only asked for help when she could not handle you and her life at the same time, and I was happy to oblige and clean up the disasters you made, it made me smile, and I could always see your father being a small helicopter around us, checking on your health and care.
Your father always knew it was a silent agreement between us, I would help raise you, heck, even help with your siblings, and he would look the other way about how much I loved your mother, as she was oblivious to my feelings back them and maybe even in modern days.
When I missed my rhythm in life, the whole song stopped playing and re-started for your mother, she just kept going, met a guy, and made a new life, for me the song was gone until I semi-adopted you, her oldest son, It was not the healthiest of all things, but the happiest for me.

Motherhood is different for each mother, mine had vacations, free time in work weeks, and no extra expenses, it was just time and occasional gifts, you were the sweetest child I ever met, before or after, and you know me, I'm just a piece of cake with kids, I hate all those little buggers.
As you grew older from a toddler to a teenager, it was not the only person that changed, as I saw the looks in your father's eyes slowly changing from hostility to understanding and eventually, sadness. He had enough of me, always around the house, and on your eighteen birthday, he told me that he could not see me anymore, that it pained him to see me stuck until the end of times, and asked me to leave as soon as you went to sleep, I was free.

I have to admit that your father surprised me and even hurt me at the moment, but with time I figured that he told me that for my good, you already became an adult, so you would leave for college soon, that meant that we would all three of us be alone, well there was also with your siblins, and you were the bridge between them and me. At that point, your mother seemed to be aware of my continuous feelings for her but remained in silence, while your father talked her eyes seemed so sad and bitter as if my love for her tortured her deeply or as if she blamed herself for it somehow, in my eyes it was my fault, not hers or your fathers.

The issue is that you kind of never noticed, you immediately dived into college and went so deep that you barely if ever get home at all, it was fine at first, but I ended up moving close to you and changing jobs, a mother (aunt) should not abandon her child.
It was delightful to have you visit me now and then, but it was your senior year when you met Rachel that things changed, you finally grew up to be a man and that was great, a bit gross because you started to date and stuff, but it was great for you as you no longer were my little monster.

Rachel was your influx point, just like your mother was mine, she hooked you up and after a couple of months I knew she was your "one", but you wanted wildly different things in life, you wanted to push for a Ph.D. and she wanted to take a trip to Europe and explore the world, in the end, neither of you seemed to be in the right point in life for romance.
I at the time decided to keep my lips shut, saying something that could prevent you from following your dreams would be bad, even if it hurts your one shot at love, but if you resembled your mother in her ability to love them you would be able to find someone else.
Yet you graduated with your Ph.D, Rachel was nowhere to be found on the graduation and your celebration felt both empty and unhappy, your eyes wandered to the limits of the stage, searching for her, as your parents, siblings and myself celebrated your achievements with tears in our eyes.
At this point I wondered if I had to shake you up, wake you up before it was too late, maybe Rachel was still waiting for you, maybe she left a way to be contacted or reached behind her, but she dints, and your hearth started dying just like mine.
It took a couple of months for you to give up finding her, yet I never did, I know that I hated your dad and called him Helicopter a lot when you were a child, but Johnny boy, my little monster, I could not forgive myself If I dint tried to save you from the pain that I lived for decades.

I will add the direction at the end of the letter, yeah, I found Rachel my son, she is alive and well, she never even left for Europe, but after a couple of failed relationships, she deleted her media and changed her phone, when you looked for her she had already set the world apart, my little monster.
Rachel never moved forward just like both of us Jhon, now as your aunt and the other mother you have, you better move your arse to the direction before I have to take my flipflop and spank you for being an idiot, I hope that by the time you read this, you have a full tank on that shitty ford your mother gifted you, and if not, remember, I keep money under the cookies jar, move kiddo, life waits for no one.
P.S: I met someone and I know it's a bit sudden from the outside, but after letting your mother go and healing, she seemed like an ideal company, and I would like you to meet her, so don't take too long to find Rachel, so we can have a double date and you can meet Brittany, she's an awesome lady.

I know I took my break from writing my short tales here, but I think I'm gonna start some more elaborated ones sooner rather than later, just to push my meager talent forward and try to make it a skill somehow, maybe I hit my luck in favor and write something good, who knows. ¡Hola comunidad de Writing Club!

¿Alguna vez te has preguntado qué habría sido de no haber elegido expulsar a alguien de tu vida? Yo me lo he preguntado desde hace un par de décadas, y siento que por fin ha llegado el momento de renunciar a recuperarle, pero no sin antes contarte nuestra historia, o mejor dicho su historia, ya que yo sólo soy una sombra en su vida, una parte del fondo.
Fondo, esa es la palabra correcta, elegí ser eso, una amiga cercana; alguien que se mantuvo lo suficientemente cerca como para que sus hijos me llamaran tía, pero lo suficientemente lejos como para no poder besarla nunca más, y sobre todo, soy una amiga que fue a la boda del amor de su vida y sonrió porque creía que estaba mejor soltera que casada con ella.
Soy una tonta que desfiló como amiga durante años hasta que se dio cuenta demasiado tarde del error que había cometido y de cómo dejó escapar su única oportunidad en la vida de tener un matrimonio feliz. Ahora soy una una vieja bruja, que esta tratando de enseñar a un joven soltero pero tonto a no cometer mi mismo error, despues de todo, soy tu tía y no estoy ciega.

En cuanto me llamaste tía por primera vez, mi vida cambió, por aquel entonces John, eras un niño encantador con una amplia sonrisa y unos brillantes ojos verdes, el niño más guapo que he visto nunca, sin embargo el vínculo se solidificó en tu primera fiesta de cumpleaños.
Me convenciste para que invirtiera mucho en ti, no fue algo que decidiera por voluntad propia, regateaste conmigo y jugaste con mis emociones, todos esos sentimientos maternales que tuve te los ganaste aquel día, con una sola sonrisa y un maravilloso "ia, ia, tiiiiiiiiiaaaaaaaaaaaaaa".
Para ti puede parecer una tontería, pero fue el último clavo en mi ataúd, fue esa cosa que me hizo decir, voy a seguir en la vida de mi amor perdido, pase lo que pase, y fuiste tú, John, mi monstruo sonriente de ojos verdes.

Monstruo, lo fuiste durante mucho tiempo, créeme cuando te digo que tu madre solo pedía ayuda cuando no podía contigo y con su vida al mismo tiempo, y yo estaba encantada de complacerte y limpiar los desastres que hacías, me hacía sonreír y siempre podía ver a tu padre siendo un pequeño helicóptero a nuestro alrededor, controlando tu salud y tus cuidados.
Tu padre siempre supo que era un acuerdo silencioso entre nosotros, yo ayudaría a criarte, ¡Diablos! incluso ayudaría con tus hermanos y él miraría para otro lado sobre lo mucho que yo quería a tu madre, ya que ella era ajena a mis sentimientos de vuelta y tal vez incluso ahora.
Cuando perdí el ritmo de mi vida, toda la canción dejó de sonar y volvió a empezar para tu madre, ella siguió adelante, conoció a un chico, e hizo una nueva vida, para mí la canción se fue hasta que te semi-adopté a ti, su hijo mayor, no fue lo más sano de todo, pero sí lo más feliz para mí.

La maternidad es diferente para cada madre, la mía tenía vacaciones, tiempo libre en las semanas de trabajo, y ningún gasto extra, sólo era tiempo y regalos ocasionales, tú eras el niño más dulce que he conocido, antes o después, y ya me conoces, soy un amor con los niños, odio a todos esos mocosos.
A medida que crecías, de niño pequeño a adolescente, no era la única persona que cambiaba, ya que vi cómo las miradas de tu padre pasaban lentamente de la hostilidad a la comprensión y finalmente, a la tristeza. Ya estaba harto de mí, siempre en casa y el día que cumpliste dieciocho años me dijo que no podía verme más, que le dolía verme pegada hasta el fin de los tiempos y me pidió que me marchara en cuanto te fueras a dormir, era libre.

Tengo que admitir que tu padre me sorprendió y hasta me dolió en ese momento, pero con el tiempo deduje que me dijo que por mi bien, ya te habías hecho mayor de edad, por lo que pronto te irías a la universidad, eso significaba que nos quedaríamos los tres solos con tus hermanos, y tú eras el puente entre ellos y yo. En ese momento, tu madre pareció darse cuenta de mis continuos sentimientos hacia ella pero permaneció en silencio, mientras tu padre hablaba sus ojos parecían tan tristes y amargos como si mi amor por ella la torturara profundamente o como si se culpara por ello de alguna manera, a mis ojos era mi culpa, no de ella ni de tu padre.

La cuestión es que como que nunca te diste cuenta, enseguida te metiste de lleno en la universidad y te metiste tan a fondo que apenas o nunca llegabas a casa, al principio estaba bien, pero acabé mudándome cerca de ti y cambiando de trabajo, una madre (tía) no debe abandonar a su hijo.
Era encantador que me visitaras de vez en cuando, pero fue en tu último año cuando conociste a Rachel que las cosas cambiaron, por fin creciste y te convertiste en un hombre y eso fue genial, un poco asqueroso porque empezaste a tener citas y esas cosas, pero era genial para ti ya que dejaste de ser mi pequeño monstruo.

Rachel fue tu punto de inflexión, al igual que tu madre fue el mío, ella te enganchó y después de un par de meses supe que ella era la "unica", pero queríais cosas muy diferentes en la vida, tú querías hacer un doctorado y ella quería hacer un viaje a Europa y conocer el mundo, al final, ninguno de los dos parecía estar en el punto adecuado en la vida para el romance.
Yo en ese momento decidí mantener los labios cerrados, decir algo que pudiera impedirte seguir tus sueños sería malo, aunque perjudicara tu única oportunidad de amar, pero si te parecías a tu madre en su capacidad de amarlos serías capaz de encontrar a alguien más.
Sin embargo, te graduaste con tu doctorado, Rachel no aparecía por ninguna parte en la graduación y tu celebración se sintió vacía e infeliz, tus ojos vagaban hasta los límites del escenario, buscándola, mientras tus padres, hermanos y yo celebrábamos tus logros con lágrimas en los ojos.
En ese momento me pregunté si tenía que sacudirte, despertarte antes de que fuera demasiado tarde, tal vez Rachel aún te estaba esperando, tal vez dejó tras de sí una forma de ser contactada o alcanzada, pero se desvaneció, y tu corazón empezó a morir igual que el mío.
Tardaste un par de meses en renunciar a encontrarla, sin embargo yo nunca lo hice, se que odiaba a tu padre y le llamaba Helicoptero muchas veces cuando eras un niño, pero Johnny, mi pequeño monstruo, no podria perdonarme si no hubiera intentado salvarte del dolor que viví durante décadas.

Agregaré la dirección al final de la carta y si, encontré a Rachel hijo mío, ella está viva y bien, ni siquiera se fue a Europa, pero después de un par de relaciones fallidas, borró sus medios y cambió su teléfono, cuando le buscaste ya ella se habia apartado del mundo mi pequeño monstruo.
Rachel nunca avanzó al igual que nosotros dos Jhon, ahora como tu tía y la otra madre que tienes, mejor mueve el culo a la dirección antes de que tenga que tomar mi chancla y azotarte por idiota, espero que para cuando leas esto, tengas el tanque lleno en ese ford de mierda que te regaló tu madre y si no, recuerda, guardo dinero bajo el tarro de las galletas, muevete niño que la vida no espera por nadie.
P.D: Conocí a alguien y sé que es un poco repentino desde fuera, pero después de dejar marchar a tu madre y curarte, me pareció una compañía ideal, y me gustaría que la conocieras, así que no tardes mucho en encontrar a Rachel, para que tengamos una cita doble y puedas conocer a Brittany, es una mujer increíble.
