Greetings dear friends of Geek Zone, today I am back in this community to tell you a little about my new technological acquisition, a Dell laptop. It had been a while since my old Compaq Presario Laptop needed a change, in another publication I had told you that it needed maintenance, an urgent maintenance and that I could not do it with a reliable technician. Time went by and well... what I was afraid of happened, one day it turned off and did not turn on again. I knew I had to buy another laptop, but, we know how we are, sometimes extreme situations lead us to take action and make real decisions.

I told my brother that I needed to buy a laptop and he recommended me two stores here in Cumana, Sucre State, the city where I live had computers for sale, both PC and laptop refurbished, second hand but in good condition and the best, at affordable prices. Actually, he was the one who helped me to choose the laptop, one day I went to the two stores and with the little knowledge I have in this matter I was not convinced by the ones they had available at that time.

Days later I went with my brother and we chose the laptop, it is the Dell brand and the cost was $270. The guy who attended us is an acquaintance of my brother's and that had its advantages, actually, the company's policy has among its rules to pay 50% of the cost and the rest is paid within a month. My first payment was $204 and I took it home immediately.

# Unusual unboxing

To make this purchase I made Power Down for the first time, I really did not want to, my goal was to become a Dolphin on the platform, however, things happen that we do not expect and we have to make decisions. I was able to solve some personal situations, dad's funeral and acquire my crypto laptop thanks to Hive. The laptop obviously not being new did not come in a box, they gave it to me in a plastic bag with its charger, the warranty policy of 2 months and their respective characteristics. The idea was to buy a laptop that surpasses in features to the previous one, and of course, that has an acceptable lifespan, in short, to have a computer for a while.

The main features of this Dell branded crypto laptop are: i5 8th generation 1.6 GHZ processor, 16 GB DDR4 RAM, 256 GB M2 technology hard drive, 14” screen and Windows 11. It has a fingerprint reader, Wifi, Bluetooth, a micro SD card slot, 3 USB ports, 1 USB type C port, 1 headphone output, 1 network port and 1 HDMI port. The battery lasts approximately 3 hours and charging is quite fast.

# Functioning, passed the test?

The warranty policy required me to use it to report any defects if I had one, however, I did not and I am thankful for that. The laptop is quite fast, it has a hard drive with M2 technology which is much faster than SSD. It has a definitely excellent screen resolution, it looks nice. There were no problems setting up the network and the Bluetooth works properly, it passed the litmus test, it receives and sends photo files very fast. The temperature issue handles it quite well, it does not overheat, although I always use it with the Cooling Pad, as the laptop is 14” it fits perfectly.

Something that made me a little tedious was to get used to the keyboard, it is in English, and it was complicated to find some symbols, I have not yet completed this issue, the keyboard configuration, but still I use it without problems to write my publications in Hive.

On the other hand, as I was used to the keyboard of my old 15” screen laptop, I was not used to the fact that the numeric keypad was not located separately, the position of the letters, the language, I could not find the letter ‘ñ’, nor the accent, it was crazy, I felt uncomfortable at the beginning, in short, it took me some getting used to. Now I use it normally and I am very happy with the investment I have made.

When I bought it I asked some crazy questions to the seller and all for being so long using my old Compaq Presario laptop, which I had to buy an external Bluetooth. The questions were: the number of cells in the battery, when it is already integrated, if it had a CD ROM, oh God, where was the button where the wifi is turned on, it is already integrated as well as Bluetooth, how outdated I was.

What do you think it was worth the purchase, of course it was?.

Saludos estimados amigos de Geek Zone, hoy estoy de vuelta en esta comunidad para hablarles un poco sobre mi nueva adquisición tecnológica, una laptop marca Dell. Ya hacía tiempo que mi antigua Laptop Compaq Presario necesitaba un cambio, en otra publicación les había contado que necesitaba mantenimiento, un mantenimiento urgente y que no no le pude hacer con algún técnico de confianza. Siguió pasando el tiempo y bueno…sucedió lo que me temía, un día se apagó y no volvió a encender. Sabía que tenía que comprar otra laptop, pero, ya sabemos cómo somos, algunas veces las situaciones extremas nos llevan a accionar y hacer realidad la toma de decisiones.

Le comenté a mi hermano que necesitaba comprar una laptop y él me recomendó dos tiendas que aquí en Cumaná, Estado Sucre, la ciudad donde vivo tenían a la venta computadoras, tanto PC como laptop refurbished, de segunda mano pero en buen estado y lo mejor, a precios asequibles. Realmente, fue él quien me ayudó a elegir la laptop, un día fui a las dos tiendas y con el poco conocimiento que tengo en esta materia no me convencieron las que tenían disponible para ese momento.

Días después fui con mi hermano y elegimos la computadora portátil, es la marca Dell y el costo fue de 270$. El chico que nos atendió es un conocido de mi hermano y eso tuvo sus ventajas, realmente, la política de la empresa tiene entre sus normas abonar el 50% del costo y el resto se paga en el plazo de un mes. Mi primer abono fue de 204$ y me la llevé al instante a casa.

# Un desempaquetado inusual

Para hacer esta compra hice por primera vez Power Down, de verdad no quería, mi meta era llegar a ser Delfín en la plataforma, no obstante, suceden cosas que nos esperamos y hay que tomar decisiones. Pude solventar algunas situaciones personales, el sepelio de papá y adquirir mi cripto laptop gracias a Hive. La laptop obviamente por no ser nueva no vino en caja, me la entregaron en una bolsa plástica con su cargador, la política de garantía de 2 meses y sus respectivas características. La idea era comprar un laptop que supere en prestaciones a la anterior, y por supuesto, que tenga una vida útil aceptable, en pocas palabras, tener computadora para rato.

Las características principales de esta cripto laptop marca Dell son: procesador i5 de octava generación 1.6 GHZ, 16 GB de memoria RAM DDR4, disco duro 256 GB tecnología M2, pantalla 14” y Windows 11. Cuenta con lector de huella, Wifi, Bluetooth, una ranura para tarjeta micro SD, 3 puertos USB, 1 puerto USB tipo C, 1 salida para audífonos, 1 puerto de red y 1 puerto HDMI. La batería dura aproximadamente 3 horas y la carga es bastante rápida.

# Funcionamiento, pasó la prueba?

La política de garantía me obligaba a usarla para reportar algún defecto si lo tuviese, sin embargo, no fue mi caso y me siento agradecida por ello. La laptop es bastante rápida, posee un disco duro con tecnología M2 que es mucho más rápido que el SSD. Tiene una resolución de pantalla definitivamente excelsa, se ve linda. No hubo problemas para configurar la red y el Bluetooth funciona correctamente, pasó la prueba de fuego, recibe y envía los archivos de fotografías de manera muy rápida. El tema de la temperatura lo maneja bastante bien, no se recalienta, aunque yo siempre la uso con el Cooling Pad, como la laptop es de 14” encaja en el perfectamente.

Algo que se me hizo un poco tedioso fue acostumbrarme al teclado, es en inglés, y se me hacía complicado encontrar algunos símbolos, este tema no lo he concluido aún, la configuración del teclado, pero aún así ya la uso sin problemas para escribir mis publicaciones en Hive.

Por otra parte, como estaba acostumbrada al teclado de mi antigua laptop de pantalla 15”, no me hallaba con eso de que el teclado numérico no estaba ubicado a parte, la posición de las letras, el idioma, no encontraba la letra “ñ”, ni el acento, una locura, me sentí incómoda al principio, en fin, me costó acostumbrarme. Ya la uso normal y estoy muy contenta con la inversión que he hecho.

Cuando la compré le hice unas preguntas locas al vendedor y todo por estar tanto tiempo usando mi vieja laptop Compaq Presario, a la que le tuve que comprar un Bluetooth externo. Las preguntas fueron: las cantidad de celdas de la batería, cuando ésta ya viene integrada, que si traía CD ROOM, ay Dios, que donde estaba el botón donde se prende el wifi, ya viene integrado al igual que el Bluetooth, que desactualizada estaba yo.

Que si valió la pena esta compra, ustedes que creen?, claro que sí.
