Friday, September 16, I just returned home after buying some groceries that I had to buy since yesterday, my return was just in time, because now I look out the window that it is raining, it is good that it did not rain on me, it is also good that we will be able to collect water for the house (because the piped water service is not constant at all), but it is bad because it is very likely that when the power lines are wet, a short circuit will occur again that will leave us without electricity, it is also bad that decreases the power of the Internet data signal of my cell phone and my BAM device... Anyway, like everything in life, this event has its good and bad things, very intermingled. Anyway, I must run to be able to write and publish, before I lose all chance to do so.

Thanks to the Twitter account of the United Nations Development Program, #UNDP, I find out that it is Ozone Day, #OzoneDay, although in other accounts they indicate rather that it is the Day for the Preservation of the Layer of Ozone, with the hashtag #DayForPreservationOfTheLayerOfOzone. In short, what the accounts agree on is that on this date, 35 years ago, the Montreal Protocol (1987) was signed, in this document of the General Assembly of the United Nations, #UN, raised the need for direct and effective actions to reduce the damage to the ozone layer that protects the #Earth from the bombardment of ultraviolet rays from the sun, it is thanks to this protection that life on our planet is possible in the way that we know her.

Even though the discovery of the ozone layer dates back to 1913, when French physicists Charles Fabry and Henri Buisson described it, its importance was not well known by the general population, it became a matter of #physics and study of natural sciences, but it is in the decade of the 70s that the alarms sounded on an international scale with such force that it was not possible to continue dismissing them, the proliferation of chemical products and the massive environmental contamination carried out by humans, was degrading the ozone layer, to the extent that it was considered to endanger our survival, ceased to be a matter of interest only for #science and became a topic of the mass media, an everyday topic.

Currently, there is still concern about the preservation of the protective layer, although I remember reading somewhere that the situation was improving little by little, it seems, the reduction in the emission of gases and chemicals that damaged the ozone layer have led to have better expectations in the matter.

Well, I think it's better to leave the publication until this point because the electricity is already flickering (laughs of resignation). Already on my 917th day since the #quarantine was declared in #Venezuela due to the #COVID-19 #pandemic, seriously I'm getting used to this career life, of running to do what I can while the services allow it and finish accepting the poor quality of life, after all, reviewing the latest national survey of living conditions, I discover that I am better off than 75% of my fellow countrymen who are in extreme poverty, and I am in the middle of the group that can half survive (as long as I don't get seriously ill or accidents arise), that is, I am within what is considered poor, but not in misery, by the way, that implies that when only poverty is considered (in all its classifications) here we arrive at what 94.6% of the population of Venezuela is poor, living from day to day, without expectations of being able to save, without the ability to invest to a large extent, and praying that no one in the house gets sick because there is no way to face additional expenses.

Viernes, 16 de septiembre, acabo de regresar a casa luego de comprar unos víveres que tenía pendiente comprar desde ayer, mi regreso fue justo a tiempo, porque ahora observo por la ventana que llueve, es bueno que no me llovió encima, también es bueno que podremos recoger agua para la casa (porque el servicio de agua por tuberías no es nada constante), pero es malo porque es muy probable que al mojar los tendidos eléctricos se presente de nuevo un cortocircuito que nos deje sin servicio eléctrico, también es malo que disminuye la potencia de la señal de datos para Internet de mi celular y de mi dispositivo BAM... En fin, que como todo en la vida, este evento tiene sus cosas buenas y malas, muy entremezcladas. Como sea, debo correr para poder escribir y publicar, antes de que pierda toda posibilidad de hacerlo.

Gracias a la cuenta de Twitter de Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo, #PNUD, me entero de que es el Día del Ozono, #DiaDelOzono, aunque en otras cuentas señalan más bien que es el Día de la Preservación de la Capa de Ozono, con el hashtag de #DiaDeLaPreservacionDeLaCapaDeOzono, en fin, lo que coinciden las cuentas es que en esta fecha, hace 35 años, se firmó el Protocolo de Montreal (1987), en este documento de la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas, #ONU, se planteaba la necesidad de acciones directas y efectivas para reducir el daño sobre la capa de ozono que protege a la Tierra del bombardeo de los rayos ultravioleta del sol, es gracias a esta protección que la vida en nuestro planeta es posible de la manera que la conocemos.

Aun cuando el descubrimiento de la capa de ozono se remonta hacia el año 1913, cuando los físicos franceses Charles Fabry y Henri Buisson la describieron, su importancia no fue muy conocida por la población general, pasó a ser un asunto de #fisica y de estudio de ciencias de la naturaleza, pero es en la década de los años 70 que las alarmas sonaron a escala internacional con tal fuerza que no fue posible seguir desestimándolas, la proliferación de productos químicos y la contaminación ambiental masiva realizada por los humanos, estaba degradando la capa de ozono, al grado de que se consideraba que ponía en peligro nuestra supervivencia, dejó de ser un asunto de interés solamente para la #ciencia y se volvió un tema de los medios de comunicación masiva, un tema cotidiano.

En la actualidad, sigue la preocupación por la preservación de la capa protectora, aunque recuerdo haber leído en algún lado que la situación estaba mejorando poco a poco, según parece, la reducción de emisión de gases y químicos que dañaban la capa de ozono han llevado a que tengamos mejores expectativas en el asunto.

Bueno, creo que mejor dejó la publicación hasta este punto porque ya la electricidad está parpadeando (risas de resignación). Ya en mi día 917 desde que se declaró la #Cuarentena en #Venezuela por la #pandemia de #Covid19, en serio que me estoy acostumbrando a esta vida de carrera, de correr para hacer lo que se puede mientras los servicios lo permiten y terminar aceptando la mala calidad de vida, después de todo, al revisar la última encuesta nacional de condiciones de vida, descubro que estoy mejor que 75% de mis connacionales que están en pobreza extrema y estoy en la parte media del grupo que puede medio sobrevivir (mientras no me enferme de nada grave o surjan accidentes), es decir yo estoy dentro de lo que se considera pobre, pero no en misera, por cierto eso implica que cuando se considera solamente la pobreza (en todas sus clasificaciones) acá llegamos a qué 94.6% de la población de Venezuela es pobre, viviendo al día por día, sin expectativas de poder ahorrar, sin capacidad de invertir en gran medida, y rogando que nadie de la casa se enferme porque no hay como hacer frente a gastos adicionales imprevistos.
