I came to Damsel because it was recently added to the Netflix platform, and two things caught my attention. First her name Damsel which means Damsel, but the photos on the movie poster showed someone quite warlike and nothing to do with a damsel in distress, I like this because I felt that there was a story to tell to have gotten to that point and also in a medieval period I was also hooked by its protagonist Millie Bobby Brown, the Stranger Things actress and Elona Holmes. Well, also Godzilla x Kong, but I don't want to remember much about that one

Llegué a Damsel por haber sido agregada recientemente en la plataforma Netflix, y me llamó la atención dos cosas. Primero su nombre Damsel que significa Damisela, pero las fotos de los poster de la película mostraban a alguien bastante guerrera y nada que ver con una damisela en apuros, esto me gusta porque sentí que había una historia que contar para haber llegado a ese punto y además en una época medieval También me enganchó su protagonista Millie Bobby Brown, la actriz de Stranger Things y Elona Holmes. Bueno, también de Godzila x Kong, pero de esa no quiero acordarme mucho que se diga.

The trailer tells us a lot about what "Damsel" is about. We can see that the protagonist Elodie is given by her father in marriage to Prince Henry, this with the purpose of saving her kingdom. Something very common in medieval times. The Prince's family seems to be very rich indeed, but they always have an appearance of power and that they are hiding something. We also see how this beautiful Prince betrays her and throws her from above into a cave, so it was all about a sacrifice really. In the cave there is a Dragon, and Elodie will fight to get out of all this alive and victorious.

El tráiler nos adelanta bastante de lo que se trata "Damsel". Podemos ver que la protagonista Elodie, es dada por su padre en matrimonio al Príncipe Henry, esto con el propósito de salvar a su reino. Algo muy común de la época medieval. La familia del Príncipe se ve que es muy rica en verdad, pero siempre tienen un aspecto de poder y de que ocultan algo. También vemos cómo este hermoso Príncipe la traiciona y la lanza desde lo alto a una cueva, de manera que todo se trató de un sacrificio realmente. En la cueva se encuentra un Dragón, y Elodie luchará para salir viva y victoriosa de todo esto.

[**What I liked**]() * The scenarios that show nature and landscapes, which although it is obvious that they made use of technology, were really enjoyed a lot, and I was able to immerse myself in it. They are quite well made, with incredible colors. * The Dragon design. He was impressive and his movements were very organic, so to speak. It has a distinctive element and that is that this Dragon speaks and communicates with Elodie at all times, but they did this very well, it was something that could have gone very wrong and even comical, but it was really done with a lot of professionalism, and it is a fact Although it is surprising at first, it later feels quite normal.

[**Lo que Me Gustó**]() * Los escenarios que muestran la naturaleza y paisajes, que aunque se nota mucho que hicieron uso de la tecnología, de verdad que se disfrutaban muchísimo, y me pude sumergir en ello. Están bastante bien hechos, con un colorido increíble. * El diseño del Dragón. Estuvo impresionante y sus movimientos fueron muy orgánicos por decirlo de alguna manera. Tiene un elemento distintivo y es que este Dragón habla y se comunica con Elodie en todo momento, pero esto lo hicieron muy bien, fue algo que pudo haber salido muy mal y hasta cómico, pero realmente fue realizado con mucho profesionalismo, y es un hecho que aunque sorprende al principio, ya luego lo sientes bien normal.

It's like there was a rush to tell this story, there was no time to fall in love with the characters, to understand what the town or kingdom of Elodie was going through, there was no time to fall in love with the Prince ourselves, who was not good, he was not bad, it was only there to serve the plot, and all very quickly. * See Angela Bassett as Lady Bayford, Elodie's stepmother. Personally, I am a fan of Angela and she is an actress of such weight and professionalism that I don't understand why she accepted this role. In cases like this, I would like actors and actresses to be more demanding when it comes to being in a film. The role of Lady Bayford would have been played by any actress and it would not have been necessary. * In the same case above, I can say the same about Robin Wright, in the role of the Prince's mother, with such a strong burden since it is this family who does the ritual and has a debt with the Dragon, and yet they do not I saw greater use of the ability of an actress of this stature.

[**Lo que NO Me Gustó**]() * Siento que me hubiese gustado que el "Giro" que da la trama se hubiese tomado más su tiempo para realizarse. De hecho, no diría que es un giro como tal, porque nos lo regalan en el tráiler. Es como que hubo un apuro en contar esta historia, no dio tiempo de enamorarnos de los personajes, de entender por lo que pasaba el pueblo o reino de Elodie, no dio tiempo de enamorarnos nosotros mismos del Príncipe, que no era bueno, no era malo, solo estaba ahí para servir a la trama, y todo muy deprisa. * Ver a Angela Bassett como Lady Bayford, la madrastra de Elodie. Personalmente soy fan de Angela y es una actriz de tanto peso y profesionalismo, que no entiendo por qué aceptó este papel. En casos como este es que quisiera que los actores y actrices sean más exigentes a la hora de estar en una película. El papel de Lady Bayford lo hubiese hecho cualquier actriz y no hubiese hecho falta. * En el mismo caso anterior, puedo decir lo mismo de Robin Wright, en el papel de la madre del Príncipe, con una carga tan fuerte ya que es esta familia quien hace el ritual y tiene una deuda con el Dragón, y sin embargo no vi mayor aprovechamiento de la capacidad de una actriz de esta talla.

* In Female Empowerment because Yes. I'm not such a fan of this, all the important characters in Damsel are female, even the Dragon was really a mother. This seems somewhat forced and convenient for the purposes. I prefer a well-developed plot and reasonably created characters in a movie. In Damsel, men are there only to make things happen. Elodie's father is there to offer her in marriage, the Prince is there to marry her, but they are characters that we don't love, we don't hate, they don't really matter. In Damsel only women and female power matter, and I don't like that in any setting, whether in film or in real life. * I expected more from Millie Bobby Brown's performance, I think this movie was meant to elevate her as an actress, but in my opinion (it's okay if yours isn't the same) I think it wasn't enough. In this role, a Natalie Portman, for example, would have been more credible at the time, since she would have been both a Princess given in marriage, and a Warrior in her maximum splendor.

* En Empoderamiento Femenino porque Sí. No soy tan fan de esto, todos los personajes de importancia en Damsel son femeninos, incluso el Dragón era realmente madre. Esto me parece algo forzado y cómodo para los fines. Me gusta mas una trama bien desarrollada y personajes razonablemente creados en una película. En Damsel, los hombres están ahí para que las cosas pasen solamente. El papá de Elodie está ahí para ofrecerla en matrinomio, el Príncipe está ahí para casarse con ella, pero son personajes que no los llegamos a amar, no los llegamos a odiar, no importan realmente. En Damsel solo importan las mujeres y el poder femenino, y eso no me gusta en ningún escenario ni de película ni de la vida real. * Esperaba más de la actuación de Millie Bobby Brown, creo que esta película tuvo el fin de elevarla como actriz, pero en mi opinión (está bien si la tuya no es la misma) pienso que no fue suficiente. En este papel hubiese sido más creíble en su momento una Natalie Portman, por ejemplo, ya que hubiese sido tan Princesa dada en matrimonio, como Guerrera en su máximo esplendor.

[**¿La Recomiendo?**]() La recomiendo si quieres distraerte una tarde sin perder mucho tiempo ya que dura 1:45 aproximadamente. La recomendaría tanto como una película de Disney, así mismo tal cual, creo que sería una película de Disney absolutamente, así de suave, así de simple su mensaje y así de profunda su historia. Hay personas que compararon Damsel o su trama, a Games of Thrones, pero nada que ver esta comparación, solo porque hay un Dragón en ella. Incluso, la película Entrenando a mi Dragón, tiene más trama, historia y personajes con sus arcos que esta Damsel.
