Hello to all dear fans of series and movies... I'm here again bringing you all a new review with my personal opinions of a series that is quite interesting. Some people know it, others don't... it has been quite recognized by the critics, but I can't help thinking that there are many people who still don't know it. Today I'm going to talk to you about: Abbott Elementary... and is that this comedy series, to me, feels like reconnecting with all the factors or best elements of classic sitcoms, but with a fresh and modern touch that makes it unique. No wonder this series has been quite moderately successful, even taking home some very prestigious Emmy awards...in the first season alone it managed to win a few, including best screenplay for its pilot episode and best supporting actress for Cheryl Lee, who plays the iconic teacher Barbara...and well, as someone who enjoys seeing talent recognized for deserving series, this was a promising sign of what's to come in this story, and obviously gave me the push I needed to start it.
From the very first moment, the series grabbed me because it genuinely feels like a love letter to educators...the premise is this, it may be a bit simple, but it's certainly effective: we get to step into the daily lives of a group of teachers in a Philadelphia public school, a school that is underfunded and overworked, they are trying to do the best they can for their students.... The way the series captures the exhaustion, determination, and humor needed to survive in a broken system is what really makes it stand out from other sitcoms, the mockumentary style similar to what many of us saw in the series “The Office” works perfectly here, allowing for both humorous and more emotional moments that manage to connect with many viewers in a quite special way. >Hola a todos queridos fanáticos de las series y las películas.. de nuevo estoy por aquí trayéndoles a todos ustedes una nueva reseña con mis opiniones personales de una serie que es bastante interesante. Algunas personas la conocen, otros no.. ha sido bastante reconocida por la crítica, pero no puedo evitar pensar que hay muchas personas que siguen sin conocerla. Hoy les hablaré sobre: Abbott Elementary.. y es que esta serie de comedia, para mí, se siente como reconectar con todos los factores o mejores elementos de las sitcoms clásicas, pero con un toque fresco y moderno que la hace única. No es de extrañar que esta serie haya tenido un éxito bastante moderado, incluso llevándose algunos premios Emmy muy prestigiosos.. solo en la primera temporada logró ganar algunos, incluyendo mejor guion para su episodio piloto y mejor actriz de reparto para Cheryl Lee, quien interpreta a la icónica maestra Barbara.. y bueno, como alguien que disfruta viendo cómo se reconoce el talento de las series que lo merecen, esta fue una señal prometedora de lo que está por venir en esta historia, y obviamente me dió el empujón necesario para comenzarla.
Desde el primer momento, la serie me atrapó porque genuinamente se siente como una carta de amor a los educadores.. la premisa es la siguiente, puede ser un poco simple, pero sin duda es efectiva: nos adentraremos en la vida diaria de un grupo de profesores en una escuela pública de Filadelfia, una escuela que está mal financiada y con exceso de trabajo, ellos intentan hacer lo mejor posible para sus estudiantes.. Janine, the main character, is an idealistic and passionate young teacher who really wants to make a difference, and she’s perfectly balanced out by the other veteran teachers, like Barbara and Melisa, who are no-nonsense teachers… they’re longtime teachers who know how things work and are a little skeptical that things can really get better. Watching them navigate the daily chaos of their school, trying to manage their students and sometimes each other, and sometimes their own struggles, was fun and at times very heartwarming, but soon season three would come around and the writers made a decision that could have ruined everything, and that is that the main character, spoiled teacher Janine, was forced to leave her teaching role to take a few days off and accept a job with the district.
For someone who had grown fond of seeing Janine in her element, teaching and caring for the students, all the endless fighting for resources and other comedic situations, this change came as a huge blow. However, surprisingly, this change turned out to be a brilliant move. The absence of this teacher was not only a perfect plot device, it fundamentally changed the dynamic of the show and forced other characters to grow in unexpected ways. Beloved characters like Barbara, Gregory, and Melissa were all changing in ways I didn’t expect. We get to see their more vulnerable sides and I’ve quite enjoyed this third season… it’s been my favorite so far. >Las dos primeras temporadas fueron increíblemente sólidas, y creo que gran parte del encanto provino de la dinámica central entre todos los maestros. Janine, la protagonista, es una joven profesora idealista y apasionada que realmente quiere marcar una diferencia, y se equilibra perfectamente con los otros veteranos profesores, como Bárbara y Melisa, quienes no se andan con rodeos.. son profesores ya antiguos que saben cómo funcionan las cosas y están un poco escépticos a que las cosas realmente puedan mejorar. Verlos navegar por el caos diario de su escuela, tratando de manejar a sus estudiantes y a veces entre ellos mismos, y a veces las dificultades de ellos mismos, era divertido y en ocasiones muy conmovedor, pero pronto llegaría la tercera temporada y los guionistas tomaron una decisión que podría haber arruinado todo, y es que la protagonista principal, la maestra consentida Janine, se vio obligada a dejar su rol de maestra para tomarse unos días y aceptar un trabajo en el distrito.
Para alguien que se había encariñado con ver a Janine en su elemento, enseñando y preocupándose por los estudiantes, todas las interminables luchas por recursos y demás situaciones cómicas, este cambio fue un gran golpe.. Sin embargo, sorprendentemente, este cambio resultó ser un movimiento brillante.. la ausencia de esta profesora no fue solo un recurso ideal para la trama, sino que cambió fundamentalmente la dinámica de la serie y obligó a otros personajes a crecer de formas inesperadas.. Personajes queridos como Bárbara, Gregory y Melissa fueron cambiando de una manera que no me esperaba.. Gregory, who has always been a bit rigid and insecure, slowly gains confidence in himself and comes to genuinely care about his coworkers, something that seemed very unlikely at first. I loved seeing his friendship with Jacob deepen and how we get several moments of the classic mismatched couple of friends. Of course, Ava, the crazy, chaotic, and, several times, irresponsible principal, is one of the best characters that this series has. She has extremely funny moments.
The constant indirect bullying she does to Janine and the other teachers is really funny and I don't think the series would be the same without her. In the third season we see how his character also evolves and, although he continues to offer extremely funny moments, little by little he is obtaining a more leading role. I think it is a classic case of a character who was forced to leave his comfort zone and who ends up being stronger and funnier in the end, offering us a development that, although not what was expected, ends up working. Let's talk now about what this series meant in general, I think it is risky every time a series brings a new premise and, much more, when it comes to sitcoms, which can fail very easily.
Abbott was lucky to arrive at a precise moment when comedy series were no longer very funny. They knew how to work with their premise and exploited it to the maximum. The writers allowed themselves to explore deeper themes and relationships, but keeping intact that humor and heart that made this story special from the beginning. They offered us a feeling that we are watching something different, but at the same time you can feel a certain nostalgia while watching their episodes. >En cuanto al elenco de personajes principales, todos los profesores son sumamente graciosos, unos más que otros, pero siento que juntos se complementan de una manera única que, sin duda, les dará mucha risa.. Gregory, quien siempre ha sido un poco rígido e inseguro, poco a poco va ganando confianza en sí mismo y llega a preocuparse genuinamente por sus compañeros de trabajo, algo que al principio parecía muy poco probable.. Me encantó ver cómo se profundizaba su amistad con Jacob y cómo nos ofrecen varios momentos de la clásica pareja de amigos dispareja. Por supuesto, Ava, la directora loca y caótica y, varias veces, irresponsable, es de los mejores personajes que tiene esta serie.. tiene momentos sumamente graciosos.

Hablemos ahora de lo que significó esta serie en general, opino que es arriesgado cada vez que una serie trae una premisa nueva y, mucho más, cuando se trata de sitcoms, las cuales pueden fracasar muy fácilmente.
Abbott tuvo la suerte de llegar en un momento preciso cuando las series de comedia ya no estaban dando mucha risa.. supieron trabajar con su premisa y la explotaron al máximo. Los guionistas se permitieron explorar temas y relaciones más profundas, pero manteniendo intacto ese humor y corazón que hizo especial a esta historia desde un principio.. I laughed a lot at Ava's craziness, but I also found myself genuinely rooting for these characters and feeling a lot of empathy for them, wanting them to actually succeed despite the difficulties they faced. It's a comedy, sure, but it's also about perseverance and finding joy and humor in the most difficult of circumstances. It's about people who care enough to keep trying, they want their students to be the best, to be amazing, to be good, to be somebody.
If I had to give Abbott Elementary a grade, I'd say it's a solid 8/10. It has its good episodes and some not-so-good ones, but most of them are hilarious. I'm excited to see where the show goes from here, especially after showing that it's not afraid to take risks. If you haven't seen it yet, I'd like you to give it a chance. You might find a comfort show that helps you get through the day-to-day and inspires you a little bit. See you in the next review. Take care of yourselves. Estoy emocionado de ver hacia dónde va la serie a partir de ahora, especialmente después de mostrar que no tiene miedo a tomar riesgos.
