Dragons. Magic. War. Horsemen's College. Enemies to Lovers. The protagonist who would burn the world to protect the girl... Blessed be the fantasy genre. This story has many details that I love: that world totally out of reality, with its own geography, politics and history, that allows you to get out of your reality for a moment. There were so many good comments that obviously I had to read it, but following the aspects of the plot I felt I had to have the book in physical, there was a voice inside me that demanded me to buy it, and not to download its Epub. So I did! It had been a long time since I had been so obsessed with a book, of spending hours reading it, talking to myself about the plot. Screaming, crying or nervous about what was happening... Anyway, I loved it from beginning to end, and I'll do this review with the intention of creating the need for you to read it✨

Eran tantos los buenos comentarios que obviamente debía leerlo, pero siguiendo los aspectos de la trama sentía que debía tener el libro en físico, había una voz dentro de mí que me exigía comprarlo, y no descargar su Epub. ¡Así que lo hice! Tenía mucho tiempo sin obsesionarme tanto con un libro, de pasar horas leyéndolo, hablando sola sobre la trama. Gritando, llorando o nerviosa por lo que sucedía… En fin, lo amé de principio a fin, y haré esta reseña con la intención de crearte la necesidad de leerlo✨

SYNOPSIS

Violet Sorrengail spent the last years of her life studying to enter the Scribes Quadrant, since in this Continent there is a war between two nations: Navarre and Poromiel, and the 20 year olds of Navarre can choose in which way they will serve their nation by joining one of the four war quadrants. Commander General Sorrengail could not tolerate the weight of her family name on a Scribe daughter, so she forced her to enter the Rider Quadrant. But to enter this Quadrant is to sign your death warrant. At Basgiath War College, it is known that half of the rider candidates die before meeting a dragon, and another third die when they meet a dragon... From day one, Violet, along with the other first-year students, must go through various lethal tests and challenges to prove their worth, since no dragon bonds with weak humans. Fourth Wing transports us to a fantasy world loaded with lots of action, romance and dragons. It combines political corruption with a fascinating magic system. On the one hand, we have this deadly academy, where every day more than one student dies between classes; and on the other hand, there is a war between kingdoms, magical creatures and dark beings. Intrigue and a range of diverse and intense emotions are palpable in every chapter. I had moments when I needed to sit down or get out of bed, breathe, and try to calm my nerves about what I was reading... Yes, my nervous system reacted as if I were involved in a real situation, that's how wonderful the book felt🩵 The plot may be a bit predictable on the romantic side, but it's an «enemies to lovers» that you're going to love, they have that heart-racing sexual tension, a chemistry between the characters that makes you sigh. But, especially, it has a good basis for explaining why there is wariness on his part, justifiable reasons to hate who she is. But hey, it has some delightful plot twists. At no point did I feel heaviness in the plot, there's a good storytelling style that gives each situation enough time to play out before moving on to another context. I didn't feel any filler in the plot, nor unnecessary moments, everything flows in a good way that allows you to stay connected with the story.

Alas de Sangre nos transporta a un mundo de fantasía cargado de mucha acción, romance y dragones. Combina la corrupción política con un sistema mágico fascinante. Por un lado, tenemos esta academia mortal, en donde cada día fallece más de un estudiante entre clases; y, por otro lado, existe una guerra entre reinos, criaturas mágicas y seres oscuros. La intriga y un abanico de diversas emociones intensas están palpables en cada capítulo. Tuve momentos en que necesitaba sentarme o levantarme de la cama, respirar, e intentar calmar mis nervios por lo que leía… Sí, mi sistema nervioso reaccionó como si estuviera involucrada en una situación real, así de maravilloso sentí el libro🩵 La trama puede ser un poco predecible en el aspecto romántico, pero es un «enemies to lovers» que vas a amar, tienen esa tensión sexual que te acelera el corazón, una química entre los personajes que te hace suspirar. Pero, especialmente, tiene una buena base para explicar por qué existe recelo de parte de él, motivos justificables para odiar quién es ella. Pero hey, tiene unos giros de tramas preciosos. En ningún momento sentí pesadez en la trama, hay un buen estilo de narrativa que le otorga tiempo suficiente a cada situación para que se desarrolle antes de pasar a otro contexto. No sentí relleno en la trama, ni momentos innecesarios, todo fluye de forma adecuada que te permite mantenerte conectado con la historia.

Él la empodera a no darse por vencida. ¿Algún defecto de Xaden? Que sea tan perfecto, no me parece justo para los demás🤭😂 Es normal tener una diversidad de personajes en los libros de fantasía, a veces es un poco contraproducente dado que hace que te pierdas; pero aquí hay unos personajes secundarios bien detallados, que es dificil no quererlos, y por ende, siempre andas con miedo de que cualquiera muera🥺 Pero, aunque todos son queridos, hay unos personajes que son incluso mejor que los protagonistas... LOS DRAGONES. No,no,no, es que los amo, son maravillosos. ¿Sus personalidades? Me encantan. Me encantan que se puedan comunicar con sus jinetes, y conocer como piensan y sienten.

The tricky thing about these fantasy books is all the plot lore. They usually have original geography, politics, and history, the writers have to come up with a creative way to keep adding all those details into the narrative, without it feeling heavy or boring, that you can digest the information, learn it, and feel it interesting. That's another reason why I loved this book: the way the information is described. It is coherent and engulfs you from the very first chapter. I found myself searching the internet for different details it mentioned, such as the parapet, to get a very clear idea of what was being presented and to be able to let my imagination run wild. For a moment you feel that you are part of a platoon in Battle Report classes, you are connecting the dots with the characters, processing the details, and you feel part of the group of strategists of this war. On the other hand, you learn about the dragons, who have their own politics and culture. And, in addition, there are other magical creatures in the narrative, beyond the borders of Navarre; there is a complex magical system between riders and dragons; political agreements between nations; and children's fables that come true. But, despite so many details, I appreciated that at no point did I feel lost or overwhelmed. I loved Rebecca Yarros' writing style.

Lo difícil de estos libros de fantasía es todo el lore de la trama. Normalmente, tienen una geografía, política e historia original, por ende, los escritores deben presentar una manera creativa de ir agregando todos esos detalles en la narración, sin que se sienta pesado o aburrido, que se pueda digerir la información, aprenderla, y sentirla interesante. Esa es otra de las razones por la cual me encantó este libro: la manera en que se describe la información. Es coherente y te envuelve desde el primer capítulo. Me encontré buscando por internet diferentes detalles que mencionaba, como el parapeto, para tener una idea muy clara de lo que se estaba presentando y poder hacer volar mi imaginación con más soltura. Por un momento sientes que eres parte de un pelotón en clases de Informe de Batalla, vas uniendo cabos con los personajes, procesando los detalles, y te sientes parte del grupo de estrategas de esta guerra. Por otro lado, aprendes de los dragones, que tienen su propia politica y cultura. Y, además, hay otras criaturas mágicas en la narración, más allá de las fronteras de Navarre; hay un sistema mágico complejo entre jinetes y dragones; acuerdos politicos entre naciones; y fábulas infantiles que se hacen realidad. Pero, a pesar de tantos detalles, aprecio que en ningún momento me sentí perdida o abrumada. Amé el estilo de escritura de Rebecca Yarros.

I think a very noticeable teaching throughout the reading is to have confidence in yourself, to believe in yourself. Violet was told by many that she was the “weakest link”, that she could never overcome any challenge, that she would never survive. And although she was well aware of her weaknesses, she would figure out a way to survive another day. We are not perfect, we all have a weak point. The important thing is to be aware of that and enhance our greatest abilities. As Xaden would say, there is no one way to do things, adapt the situation to your probabilities, to what you can do, and don't get stuck in possibilities that are not certain. If you love fantasy worlds as much as I do, then hand on heart I would recommend this book. It's as if Games of Thrones and Divergent had a child, influenced with Harry Potter. Creo que una enseñanza muy notoria durante toda la lectura es tener confianza en tí mismo, creer en tí. Muchos le dijeron a Violet que era el “eslabón más débil”, que jamás podría superar ningún reto, que no conseguiría sobrevivir.
