The PeakD search feature
75 comments
The #PeakD blogging frontend provides its users with a good way to search for content on the Hive blockchain, whether they are post-related, accounts, or communities. The search page can be loaded here.
What can be searched from
There are 7 categories of content that can be searched from using PeakD Search, which are the following:
- Posts
- Users - Hive account usernames
- Topics - also known as "post tags"
- Communities - Hive blockchain communities
- Snaps - the microblogging feature of PeakD
- Badges - Hive accounts created for issuing PeakD badges
- Collections - "Curated Collections" or "Collection of Posts" on PeakD
The first 4 categories above are available all around the Hive blockchain, while the last 3 categories are created for PeakD. However, since PeakD is a decentralized Hive app, people on Hive can create or upgrade their own Hive dapp to support features similar to PeakD Snaps, PeakD Badges, and/or PeakD Collection of Posts.
Comments that are not Snaps cannot be searched using PeakD Search (where #Ecency Search can be used instead).
Advanced Search mode
The Advanced Search mode allows specifying a Hive account and/or a tag of the content, such that only content from the selected Hive account and/or content tag gets displayed.
This mode can be used on the following content:
- Posts
- Snaps
- Collections
Mini search results
On a desktop web browser, the PeakD search page has a section on the right that shows some relevant content from all other categories except Snaps.
Examples of what gets displayed upon searching are the following:
- If the user searched from Communities, the right section will display content from Posts, Collections, Badges, Topics, and Users (for a total of 5 categories).
- If the user searched from Snaps, the right section will display content from Posts, Communities, Collections, Badges, Topics, and Users (for a total of 6 categories).
