Americano or long black what’s the difference?

In another episode of same-same but different, today I’ll introduce you to one of the most heated debate of Americano vs Long Black.

Have you ever heard of Long black? if not, I’ll tell you about it but first, we’ll dive into something we are familiar about Americano.

Americano is made by pouring the espresso and then adding the water on top of the americano. Typically, you can see americano as the picture above. It is commonly sold at coffee shop and cafe more than long black.

But Mac, they are made with espresso and water, what’s the big deal? well.. the method of preparation are different. To make long black, the espresso goes the second after the water. So it will look like it has a lot more crema than your typical americano. If you ever made coffee with nescafe and shake them, it will look a lot more like long black than americano that seems a lot more light,just like in the encylopedia of coffee mentioned, it has the body of a filtered coffee Americano will taste weaker than long black. So, if you love anything of strong coffee flavor, long black is your go-to option.

Whether you’re home brew, coffee enthusiast, now you know the difference and perhaps, ocassionally you can make long black to spice up your espresso.
