Wonderful Delay: Parade and Patience

"Why hurry over beautiful things?
Why not linger and enjoy them?"
_Clara Schumann
I have been hurrying this morning since I had to go to the capital of Benguet, Northern Luzon, Philippines but I was informed there will be a parade along the way because of the Benguet Provincial Athletic Meet.
Getting there, we would be passing by the Strawberry Farms in La Trinidad, Benguet.
We were told that there will be a parade of the athletes representing the thirteen (13) different municipalities of Benguet.
I am coming from a town in La Union which is a province next to Benguet and the parade starts at 7:30 a.m. so we had to have passed the area before the parade starts.
I even did not make us morning sandwiches so we could leave early.
We left La Union at around 6 a.m. to avoid traffic along Marcos Highway/Ben Palispis Highway.
Taken along Marcos Highway, Tuba, Benguet
Unfortunately, we caught traffic in some parts of Baguio and just as I thought we would have made it in time, the parade started 3 minutes earlier.
We were there lined up while waiting for the parade to finish.
I admit, at first, I was so disappointed.
Imagine waking up early and travelling early to be able to catch up and then suddenly you end up stuck.
So, instead of whining and complaining, I brought out my phone and took pictures of the athletes.
Some of them were so happy and friendly that they would wave and smile at the camera.
Here's some of them:
These are the student-athletes of Benguet State University. They are a separate team from the La Trinidad team though they are located in La Trinidad.
These students are from Tuba, Benguet. They sure are a happy and energetic team. Way to go Tuba!
Look at these kids waiting for their favorite athletes. I'm referring to the kids wearing blue shirts. They were there when we got there and they must be waiting for their bets.
These kids have mastered dancing the "Tayaw", a Benguet traditional dance.
The parade ends in Benguet Sports Complex.

After the parade, the police officers in the area let us pass along Strawberry Farm and we got to enjoy the view.
Lastly, though I arrived 10 minutes later, I got to enjoy cheering for the athletes. Hoping that my simple cheers of "Go (insert municipality)!" have inspired them. And of course, I enjoyed the view.
📌Hi. I'm Cate and this is my story, a day in my life. I believe patience defines a person and thus we must have patience at all times. Hope you enjoyed this short post!
