Eating out is prohibitive for many, but there are also moments of exception, usually to celebrate special events in life. In this case, celebrating the everydayness of life during one of the weekends, it seems to me very appropriate to loosen the belt of austerity without going overboard. Of course, as long as the pocket allows it.

And it is that before! When the super crisis had not caused the havoc and the effects that many of my countrymen suffered, eating what you wanted, was not something that you worried too much about. Just do it, and that's it. You gave yourself the pleasure.

What times are those, not so distant!

Well, let's leave nostalgia aside. On Friday, the prelude to the weekend, my wife and I were very hungry after the errands in the capital. So we stopped in front of a fast food stand before getting home to appease the body's demands. In this part of the world, tasting a hamburger or a Hot Dog is considered a relatively economical solution, and in this sense, when we saw the picturesque and pleasant food stand, we said to ourselves, let's share a sandwich.

Yes, they sold sandwiches and hot dogs, but also, Patacones.

If you are not from Latin America, you may not know it. Let me give you a brief description of it: A patacón is a kind of sandwich made with fried green plantain that is filled with a combination of grated white cheese, meat, chicken, pork, tomato, onion, and sauces, depending on the country or the taste of the diner.

In our case, the clerk offered us a variant cooked on a griddle of ripe or mature plantain, as it is said here in Venezuela, and asked us what to fill it with, and we said in unison, with everything. By the way, a peculiarity of that delicious patacón, was that the cheese, although grated in large strips, was not white, but yellow cheddar, fried egg, and the meats were lean: beef and chicken.

First, they brought the fries to be bathed to taste in tomato sauce, in the style of McDonald's. And then, the sandwich was cut in half. That was the deal, but as you will understand, we both got hooked and without discussing anything, we ordered a second patacón to be satisfied. In addition, it seemed quite healthy to us as long as one does not abuse the sauces. Well, nor the fries.

A very delicious weekend craving that soon, with God's permission, we will repeat in another of the coming weekends. The food stand, in addition to being very close to where we live, is also cozy and the hosts are cordial and careful in serving you.
