My 48th Instacart paycheck 💸 🛒

Instacart was worried that there wouldn't be any shoppers during Christmas, so they offered me a promo 4 days in a row just to make sure I worked. Lucky for me, I planned on working anyway so I just got some extra money for something I was already going to do anyway. Let's discuss.
 

 

Monday, December 18th

Tuesday, December 19th

I didn't turn the app online on Monday or Tuesday. After a long Sunday night, Monday was a day of catching up with sleep. Tuesday was spent recording numerous gaming videos.

Wednesday, December 20th

No orders = No work

Thursday, December 21st

 

 
Thursday was the first day of the week that I had any Instacart work. I was alerted of a promotion late Wednesday night, so I had hoped there would be some orders on Thursday. There was hardly any worth taking though.

I made about $29.04/hr on this day.

It's one of the worst hourly rates I've had in quite some time. This is because I was trying to force myself to get 5 batches completed so that I could get some extra pay thanks to the promotion. At most, I'd have gotten an extra $20 from Instacart if I completed the promo. The only way that would have been possible is if I accepted charity batches that equaled zero dollars after gas was figured in.

Instcart must be joking with this promo. It was a terrible promo, and they couldn't even offer me enough quality batches to complete it. My only hope is that this weekend I earn a bunch like I have the last couple of weekends. If not, I will be going into Christmas and the New Year with my lowest earning week of all time. Not cool Instacart.
 

Friday, December 22nd

 

 
Friday was the type of day that I needed. I had orders all day long, although none of them were anything spectacular. All of them added together + the active promo that I completed allowed me to have a pretty great day in a short amount of work time.

I made about $60.20/hr on this day.

The promo was virtually the same as the one I failed to complete on Thursday. It was $50 guaranteed after 5 batches instead of $46. The main kicker here is that there were plenty of orders for me to complete. Don't get me wrong, I ignored dozens of terrible orders, but there were still a few left worth doing.
 

 
I'm hoping that I get another promo on either Saturday or Sunday. Both days I should have some time to work, but I don't plan on making it an all-day thing as I'll want to spend some time with my family for Christmas.

Saturday, December 23rd

I made quick work of Saturday. I had a goal of completing 6 total batches and I somehow managed to do it before noon. This was exactly how I had hoped the day would go.

I made about $68.86/hr on this day.
 
Instacart must have been worried they wouldn't have enough workers during Christmas weekend. For the third day in a row, I had a promo. The one on Saturday was my best of the three.
 

 
Two $100+ days in a row, that's the first time that has happened in a minute. I should have a few hours to work Sunday morning and early afternoon. If I have another $100 day, it will indeed be a much-welcomed Christmas gift.

Sunday, December 24th

 

 
Sunday was another solid day and my last before Christmas. My family didn't have any major plans for Christmas Eve and this is my first Christmas being single in 3 years, so I had plenty of time during the morning to work. I was also blessed (somewhat) with a promo from Instacart. It wasn't a very good one, but it was still enough to motivate me to take batches that I normally wouldn't.

I made about $49.16/hr on this day.

The first order of the day was my best because the rest on Sunday were about as mediocre as they come. Luckily all of them were quick shops with low mileage, but also lower tips than I usually am willing to work for. I was determined to complete the promo and end my week on a high note.
 

 
The 12:22 customer gave me $8 cash on top of her digital tip in the app which was also $8. She was the only customer who took the time to thank me for shopping for her on Christmas Eve. Everybody else not only didn't even acknowledge me, but they also tipped awful. One of the orders I did was even a $0 tip. I just don't understand how people can be so cold, especially during the holidays.

The last order of the day was a delivery to the 12th-floor apartment in the nicest building in our whole city. Rent is around $3,000 a month there. The guy had a 32-pack of water plus half a dozen grocery bags and a 6-pack of soda. I carried it all up to him in one trip because I'm a beast, but he still only tipped $5. I thought what a cheap ass. You'll pay $3k a month for a luxury apartment but won't even tip on Christmas Eve for some dude busting his ass for your lazy fucking self. I immediately turned the app offline after that one because I completed the promo, but also was just super annoyed with that dude.

End of week hours and pay 🤑

My weekly pay was just over $400 and I worked nearly 8 hours.

I made about $53.61/hr on average this past week.

Doing it again next week 👀

The holiday promos are what saved me this week. Thankfully I made more than I needed to. I wouldn't call it the best week ever or anything, but I'm still happy that it went as well as it did.
