A Wooden Radiator Cover

Evening all

I had a baby a little while back and I needed a radiator cover made for his room to stop him touching the radiator in his bedroom and burning his pudgy little hands.

After looking through tons of covers and feeling outraged by the prices, I decided it was time to make one myself.

This has only just come out of his room recently after some good use and a battering by him.

The build was fairly simple and just required a saw, a hammer, a drill, screws and pin nails. I used 30mm screws for the top and 20mm pin nails to hold the front and sides together.

The wood was mostly scrap chipboard and MDF that I had in the garage from the previous owners. They lovingly didn't empty the garage before they sold us the house 😡

It turned out lucky for me as this build cost me a few quid instead of nearly £80 odd for a pre made one fit to the dimensions I needed.

The holes were done with so many mistakes but luckily I had plenty of scrap wood so it came out good in the end.
I made a hole template by drilling a straight line of evenly spaced holes, then clamped it over my sheet wood and went to town drilling like a mad man!

I forgot to say that I used the cheapest emulsion paint I could find! I didn't expect it to last long at all but for the time, cost and effort it has been one of my greatest builds so far.
