The story behind the song "Rock and Roll" by Led Zeppelin

This is the second song to appear on the Led Zeppelin IV album and according to guitarist Jimmy Page this song was recorded during a spontaneous jam while the band was finishing recording the song Four Sticks at the supposedly haunted farm of Headley Grange.

Drummer John Bonham used to warm up on the drums by playing Little Richard's Keep A Knockin intro, to which Jimmy Page was going through a creative block and frustration that led him to improvise a Chuck Berry-style guitar rhythm while the recording tapes They continued filming, fifteen minutes later they already had the base of the song recorded.

As time went by, Robert Plant noticed that the new composition proved to be a success for live concerts and became a fundamental part of the band's setlist.

Named simply the most dynamic hard-rock song in music, it was about to turn 30 in 2002, when it became the band's first song to be used for a commercial; the car manufacturer Cadillac used it for one of its television advertisements, managing to increase the sale of their cars by 16% that same year.

In addition to earning a large sum of money from royalties, Robert Plant commented that he agreed that the song would be used in as many places as possible and that it was a good thing that a younger generation could know his music.
