It was an usual Monday evening and the green haired man felt bored.
So the bored young man went on a walk around his neighborhood to let his mind be free and to scan the hood for unusual things worth watching. As usual he took his camera with him and stored it securely in his backpack. SECURE from other people who could look weird but also SECURE from himself. He really should change this behavior and utilize the camera strap to carry the camera over the shoulder... but this is another story.
Equipped with a jacket and an umbrella to stay dry in these late autumn days the young man walked around the streets. He had a little rest at a nearby park on a bench under some trees and while watchings birds fighting for food he had an idea for the next target of the evening.
The green haired man stood up and started to follow the new goal. His way got him near his home but then he took a right turn instead of the left one which would have brought him right back home. He walked another 5 minutes though orange leaves and arrived a bit soaked with rain at the doors to:
The target of this young man has been the second hand shop. Sometimes he goes there to search for a specific thing, a tool or decorative item he desires but doesn't want to afford new. It was the first time he got there without a need - at least without a materialistic one in mind. The shop always looks and feels like a cheap supermarket but it's filled with old and interesting stuff from the past. It is well visited because the shop is located on a big street near the center of Hamburg. Many people buy second hand here so the assortment often changes. Every visit was worth it up until today and this Monday's visit will be especially worth it.
The young man left his umbrella in an old vase at the entrance and started to look around. Old radios, kitchen tools, shoes, furniture, vinyls, paintings and much more stuff with a long history but then he stumbled upon a typewriter from the late 60s.
He never thought about supplementing his phone or pc with such an old machine to write down his thoughts and memories. But this machine was mesmerizing and the man was not able to take his eyes off of it. The smokey yellow stain, the simplicity but complexity and the sheer character held his attention. He felt the need to press a key, to feel the spring behind the mechanics and to just sense what possibly many people before him sensed when they typed their letters, bills and angry complaints on it in the past.
His left index finger adorned by a black wooden ring got closer and closer to the letter "D". Just before he was able to touch the old plastic a light but recognizable static discharge traveled through the air into his finger and he quickly pulled back his hand. It wasn't the static discharge we all know and experienced already multiple times in our lifes... It was different... It felt like the typewriter asked for a new home. A new purpose for such an old and overlooked tool which has been so characteristic for the past century.
The young man felt sorry for pulling away his hand so quickly and he gave it another try. His finger reached the key without any additional strike and the man managed to press the "D" slowly while watching the mechanics move.

The brown eyes of the green haired man sparkled a bit and he knew what he is going to do next. He quickly grabbed the typewriter like anybody could jump in his way and take it before him and with fast steps he went straight to the cashier. "15 Euro macht das dann junger Herr!" the old lady behind the desk said and the young man paid with only a few coins for this:
TIME CAPSULE

... which probably was 20x more expensive back in the days. He felt like a criminal exchanging this machine for so few bucks but he tried not to betray his feelings to the old lady. But she smiled like she could read his mind and handed him the bill for his new treasure of the day.
The typewriter was just small enough to fit into his backpack and so the young man walked home with a feeling of success, satisfaction and anticipation. At home the young man became younger and younger while trying out his new toy like a child on christmas. He discovered every aspect of the machine before placing it on his desk, closing the lid and ordering new ink ribbons over the internet.
And so it happened that the young green haired man you just read of is now typing the post you read on his new typewriter. Next to learning how to type with maing as few errors as pssobile he has many more plans for this machine: video effects, typing labels for various things and simply writing down his memories and thoughts.
Let us all hope that the machine and the young green haired man will have a long and active future ahead. The young man has more machines, gadgets and toys in his various shelves covered in dust. Hopefully this new treasure will remind him to use the things he already has at his disposal a bit more often before going out to buy new ones.

Thank you for your time to read this story which is almost entirely based on a real story of the past Monday evening and guess who is the "green haired young man" and who owns this beautiful typewriter.
Peace!
P.S.
This is the original writing after i drafted on my mobile phone +psst+!
If you can count the many typos and errors I made then please keep it for you - I do not want to get demotivated so early in the journey ;)
