The Sawyer Mini water filter is an essential tool for hiking, capable of filtering 99.99999% of harmful bacteria and particles larger than 0.1 microns. It's handy, budget-friendly and promises a long lifespan, but it doesn't filter viruses, heavy metals, pesticides, and chemicals. The kit comes complete with a filter, back flushing syringe, straw attachment, and a 500 ml pouch. The flow rates might take a while to pick up and it requires regular backwashing, especially when used with murky water sources, but the mini filter can process up to 100,000 gallons of water before doing so. Another impressive feature of this filter is its versatility - it can be used like a life straw, a gravity feed system, utilized with regular bottles or traditionally with the Sawyer pouches.
