Precious Treasure: Old but gold

Wazzup hivers! I’m back again for another chika; ok, in this blog, I’m going to show you how creative and effort the people in the 90's in terms of courtship. Haysst, I want to go back to the time when the words “I love you” were very precious, and it’s a very dangerous word. In addition to this, I will be reveling in some precious treasures that my mother has been preserving for a long period of time. Are you all excited? Whahahah, me too.
It all started when my mother asked me to feed our dogs. Actually, our kitchen was separate from our house, and it was located in our old house. Our old house was made of bamboo and palm leaves, which was very refreshing, and I like to sleep there way back for the reason that I can’t feel any heat, especially at noon. Due to its oldness, lots of its parts are damaged, so it is not good if we stay or sleep there. We migrate to our new house now, and our dogs are the ones who sleep in our old house; furthermore, it’s now their house.
As I was closing the window after feeding our dogs, I saw a brown vintage bag. It was very aesthetic; I was consumed by my curiosity, so I immediately got that bag. I was amazed by its design, and it's very wonderful, although some of its zippers are broken. I can't deny the fact that its quality is above average. I didn’t miss the chance, so I explored every storage space in the bag.
It's kind of hard to open the zipper of the bag, but as I opened the first zipper, I found this original wallet. It is kind of dusty, and some of its parts, especially the steel part, are already rusty. But overall, the wallet is in very good condition, so it can still be used with just a simple cleaning, and it’s perfect.
I’m really enjoying what I’m doing, and I call this bag raid wahahhaha. Take note that I didn’t ask my mother for permission to explore and raid her bag, “bahala na si batman."
After opening the first zipper, of course, I close it and move to another zipper. As I successfully open it, this old pouch welcomes me. As I pick it up, I am amazed at the papers inside. You can really tell that the papers are old; moreover, there are also some old photos of my mother when she was a maiden. I’m really excited to open the pouch, but I was hit by a sudden realization that if I open it, I’m not respecting my mother’s privacy. Of course, she owns this, and I open her bag without her permission.
I immediately put back the pouch and closed the zipper. I carried the bag with me and went to our new house. I smiled widely when I saw my mom, smiling like there was no tomorrow. The reaction of my mama quickly changed when she saw the bag that I was carrying. I then told her that I wanted to see what’s inside her bag, pretending that I didn’t open any zippers. Sorry, mama. She then says no, but I’m her naughty daughter, so she has no choice but to allow me. I received a hit from her. Of course, I don’t feel anything because I’m really looking forward to raiding her old yet vintage bag.
As I opened the first zipper, it showed the wallet. I told my mother to give it to me because I really liked it, and then she said yes, I was the happiest that time. She then told me that the wallet was a gift for her from his friend, and it cost 5000 pesos. She also told me that the wallet is older than mine. Gosh, I’m shocked, so even the vintage bag is older than me? Oh my, I’m already 20 years old now. How come? I’m left in awe, and I put it in my mind to really take good care of the wallet and consider it my mother's gift that I need to treasure. I say thank you to my mother, and then I continue the bag raiding.
Of course, I didn’t miss the chance and opened the pouch, as I had the authorization of my mother. I’m really excited to open it.
These were some of the letters that my father wrote. My mother is really a good keeper; imagine that this letter was very old and she still has it. The letter had no damage, but its envelope was kind of damaged, but what matters most was the handwritten letter that my father gave it to her. She’s really amazing. My mama said that there were plenty of them, but Typhoon Yulanda took some of them. Actually, I didn’t read all of it because I didn’t want to. I just checked how my father folded the letter because it's very unique and creative.
I will show you some parts of the letter that my father wrote. It’s kinda cringe for me, but for sure, at their time, my mother was really blushing while reading the letter. Sorry guys I'm not that romantic girl that you think.
I also found this one; this was also older than me. My mother told me that this was owned by my father way back when they were just dating. My father’s job was a fisherman
Together with the letters, I also found lots of old photos from when my mother was in her 20's and also from the day that they were united as one of my fathers. Below are the photos.
United as one
It’s really amazing how men courted women way back, because technology was not that rampant at the time. They used handwritten letters just to express how they were in love and imagined it would take weeks or months for the letters to be delivered. Imagine what men did just to show how in love they were with women, and in addition to this, my grandparents also told me that the word “I love you” is very sacred. What has happened to us right now?
The end. Thank you for reading my blog, Hanggang sa Susunod mwuapsss
