Sunrise at Rowena Crest Overlook

I got up early today. like, while it was still dark, and took myself down the road a piece to the Rowena Crest Overlook to see if I could glimpse the sunrise.

That's about as much sun as we've had all day, which is nice as we're still hitting the 100°F mark.

The plateau and the hill beside it have some trails and is know as the Tom McCall Preserve.
 

 
Tom McCall was governor of Oregon from 1967 - 1975. He was a progressive republican, was known as a staunch environmentalist, and an advocate of sustainable development.

His quotes and rhetoric was very entertaining, in fact he became nationally know when he said this in an interview with CBS News's Terry Drinkwater:

So, let's start down the trail. This is sort of the entrance to the plateau. There are cliff walls on both sides right here, then once you get passed that it opens up.

 
I got to the edge of the plateau and stopped for a spell. I forgot to bring a copper round to leave for the next hikers but there was a chance there was one at the bottom of my bag.
 

Alas, there was not, so I ate some raisins instead :D
 
Oops, this guy spotted my lumbering human ass from about a mile away xD

This is the west end of the trail.

 

Here we are looking north into Washington. The muddy water is the Klickitat River emptying into the Columbia. On the right is the town of Lyle. You can see a couple fishing boats out there too. This was probably around 7am
 

 
Got a lot of other stuff done today too, including tuning up my scooter and installing a stereo system...
