Learning A Hand Craft At Last
3 comments
Hello everyone!
Welcome to my blog!
After many years of searching and wondering what handcraft or skill called to me, I finally found it.
I was surfing the internet last week when I came across a popular website that offers courses to help people learn different arts and crafts.
These courses are paid for, but I didn't bother about the price tags on each course because I didn't think I'd be interested in learning a craft from the website until I got to a tag named CROCHETING.
At first I didn't really feel the pull until I went through some of the sample videos and that was when my interest began to make itself known.
I have never before bothered to learn to crochet until now.
I tried learning how to braid hair, but it didn't stick.
I tried learning how to sew, and the same thing happened. I just wasn't feeling that pull that'll give me the energy to want to learn eagerly and so, I lost interest.
Scrolling through that website made me realize just how much I can do with a handcraft.
Aside from the joy of making something with my own hands, I can also make profit from it, something I am going to achieve once I am done knowing all there is to know about crocheting.
- MY PROGRESS SO FAR…
After coming across the website, I resolved to give my ultimate attention to crocheting.
I promised myself I'd dedicate time to learning all the different loops and stitches involved in crocheting.
And to do all that, I need the necessary tools.
I'm not going to give out my bank details to any website because I don't trust them, so I decided to get crocheting tutorials from YouTube.
I downloaded a lot of beginner friendly videos that'd show me how to begin a chain (it's a term used when crocheting).
After that, I went to the market to get the necessary tools needed.
Enough yarn (it's called baby wool also) in different colors. The colors I would have loved couldn't be found so I have to make do with these, for starters at least.
And a packet of crochet hooks which contains different sizes and numbers of the hooks for easy identification.
There's scissors to cut off any mistakes because I've made some already.
I've been practicing a lot, especially since I have set out time during the day specifically for crocheting and I am happy I can finally do a smooth slip knot and a single chain.
a slip knot
I just started learning this and it's really quite easy too because I'm getting the hang of it so quickly which makes me happy.
Every time I pick up the crochet hook, I feel happy and proud of myself because I am finally doing something I really and genuinely want to do.
a single chain, though a bit rough but I'm getting it
I'm still working on giving myself little projects to finish, though it's a little bit tough, but I can always pull it off.
So far, it's been great.
It feels great learning something new and once I have made reasonable progress, I'll share to everyone here.
I feel like I can sit indoors and crochet all day, it's like therapy and it has become part of my daily activities.
Thank you for reading. ✂️
See you in the next post.
P. S: all images are mine.
