WORKMEN AND DISAPPOINTMENTS

It was on a lovely cool evening in February, the month lovers all around the world have high expectations in the atmosphere.
My friend (Steve) called my phone during working hours, inviting me to hang out with him it was on the 13th of February 2021, a day to Valentine’s day.

Fast forward to the invitation, I told him I'll meet him at Lesukka, somewhere in the heart of Port Harcourt, River State, Nigeria.

At exactly 10 pm, we were together, drinking and laughing so loud, suddenly he brought out something from his pocket, knelt on one knee and proposed to his fiancé, I was surprised...... Hey, don't ask me why...... Steve is a playboy by all standards, I never saw him settling down into marriage, at least not until like 2024...Lol

I gave him a big hug and a vibrating handshake.
Fast forward to last week Saturday the 11th of December 2021, exactly 2days ago, the atmosphere was ripe for the occasion, caterers moving around, arranging the buffet stand, decorators beautifying the venue...... Wait, did I tell you that it was an outdoor event, scenery I've always loved to marry my wife...... OH, did I tell you I was married too?
Yes, am married to the most wonderful woman any man could ever wish for.

Back to my story, I was his best man, I ensure that everything was in place and for him to know that there's nothing to worry about.
I suggested the videographer who covered my marriage be given the coverage job, but he said his wife to have already done so.
So I had nothing to worry about since that side is covered.
I did a last-minute check of all departments contracted to make sure that the wedding is successful, colorful, and memorable.

Cameramen...... Check
Caterers....... Check
Decorators...... Check
Officiating Pastor...... Check
Drinks......... Check
Ushers.......... Check
Cake designer...... Check
 

Automatically, with all these in place, what do I have to worry about, nothing, right?
Good, we matched out into the open, with the wedding song playing in the background.
My friend stood in front of the officiating pastor while he watched his bride being escorted by his father as he walks her down the aisle.

All this while, the videographer is supposed to be recording right?

Anyways, while I stood beside my friend and watched his bride walk up to the officiating pastor, she smiled at her husband to be and I noticed a mist form in my friend's eyes, at this point, I kept wondering what this woman did to my friend to make Steve go so soft and so in love, but whatever it was, I hope it's forever.
Hey, don't think or see me as a bad friend, am very happy with his decision and also his achievements.

So, the officiating pastor started by praise and worship,
Invitees were getting into the high spirit, as a careful Cinematographer, I decided to step away from the groom to do a quick check to make sure everything is going smoothly, I decided to go to the videographer to see what he's doing, as I approached him, he was so engrossed in his job, but something wasn't right, I looked at the cameraman and asked him if everything is okay, of which he gave me a horrible look of (please allow me to do my job), I left him but somehow I noticed that there was no memory card in the camera or he wasn't recording properly.

I immediately used my authority to call him to order, but that was after I've attended to other people, taking calls for the direction of guests coming to the venue, by the time I walked back to the cameraman and demanded to see what he has recorded...... Note, at this point, he was drinking and eating a plate of food and he gave me the camera to preview what he's done, Behold, I switched the camera to view the raw files, I couldn't find anything from the preaching to the vote of thanks by the chairman of the occasion, I had a cold sensation running through my skin and I prayed hard to let it not be what am thinking, I opened the memory card pot and noticed that he had been recording blank.

I felt a thumping in my stomach.
I gave him a killer mood look and immediately he asked what the problem was, I asked him to show me the rushes after I gave him the camera, with confidence he took the camera and I guess he must've pressed all the buttons on the camera in less than a minute, in search of the clips.

At this point, I was thinking of how to tell my friend that he has no video of his carefully planned wedding.
Suddenly, he(Steve) walked up to me and inquired what the problem is, I then asked the cameraman to explain things to him, Steve fixed his gaze on the cameraman and asked him to speak.......

Oga, no vex, I didn't know that I was recording without a memory card.

Oga, can you fix the wedding again next week was the question the cameraman asked him, out of anger, my friend, the groom, gave him a thunderous slap that echoed across the venue, to cut the long story short, I grabbed Steve and pulled him away from the cameraman, so he doesn't add more injuries on him.
The cameraman scampered to safety in order not to receive another slap from either the groom or myself.

My question is how on earth you will suggest to a client to redo his wedding next week, so you can fix things..... LoL.
