Hello, music lovers! 馃幎
Whether we want it or not, the New Year is coming! The best thing to do is to go with the flow with new and melodious music.
This year's last one is a fresh #newtunes music selection, primarily by lesser-known musicians.
Eight songs in different genres for the weekend and maybe in the New Year, too!
If you don't like something, skip it!

Laura Marling - Caroline
Laura Marling is an English singer-songwriter from London who released albums as a teenager in 2007 and has released eight so far. The latest, Patterns in Repeat, was released at the end of October this year. Over and over again, her music deftly chronicles her place in the world, her love affairs, and her relationship with the music industry, and elegantly processes her adolescent traumas.
Track Caroline from the new album is a playful song-within-a-song, dedicated to a former loved one who unexpectedly returns to our lives when we've just managed to get over her.
Blind Girls - Blemished Memory
Blind Girls is an Australian scream band that has been active for ten years, and their latest album, An Exit Exists, is considered by genre experts to be the scream album of the year. I'm not exactly a connoisseur of the genre, and this is the first I've heard of this band, but the album is precisely that: a scream to escape from destructive patterns. The vocals (if you can call them vocals, better screams) keep us firmly focused, the guitar riffs and breaks are furious, and the percussion is very dynamic. It's a treat for fans of the genre!
Samba Tour茅 - Assouma Kagne
Samba Tour茅 is a Malian desert blues artist who has been recording and singing for 30 years and is said to be the successor of the legendary Ali Farka.
His new album, Baarakelaw (Workers), will be released in January next year and will feature a lively mix of traditional Songhoy music from northern Mali, psychedelic blues-rock songs, ballads, and love songs.
The song Assouma Kagne is the album's introduction and first single, released three weeks ago.
Half/Cross - Penitent
Half/Cross is a band from Philadelphia dealing with the power violence genre, a subgenre of fast hardcore, where we move between samples, slow guitar solos, bursts of vocal spots, fast drum beats, screamo vocal parts, and typical hardcore breaks. The lyrics are sharp and clear critiques of late capitalism in the USA. Followers of this (and similar genres) will undoubtedly like it.
The album Penitent and the song of the same name were released at the end of September.
Theis Thaws - Fly To Ceiling feat. Rosa Rocca Serra
Adrian Thaws is probably better known to the music public as Tricky, a big name in Bristol's underground scene, which was put on the musical map with the rise of hip-hop and electronica and their psychedelic blend, trip-hop.
Owner of False Idols record label, producer and rapper Tricky is extremely active (certainly more so than his former Massive Attack bandmates). At the end of October, he released the album Fifteen Days in collaboration with Parisian producer Mike Theis, in the project Theis Thaws. The vocals were mostly contributed by French artist Rosa Rocca Serra.
KLONE - After the Sun
Klone is a French band that has been playing for over twenty years. They have released eight albums so far; the last one, The Unseen, was released at the end of November this year.
Although Klone is known as a heavy metal band, this album is more a mixture of art-rock elements, progressive flashes, and heavy metal memories, enriched with a specific post-rock sensibility and an effective creation of atmosphere with a kind of hypnotic effect.
The simple melodies and repetitive riffs will easily charm those who like this music, so I recommend it to followers.
Daniel Romano's Outfit - Field of Ruins
Daniel Romano, guitarist and author from Welland, Ontario, is the driving force behind Daniel Romano's Outfit, or sometimes just Outfit. Their latest album, Too Hot To Sleep, was released earlier this year.
It best approximates the classic indie rock experience with a positive spin.
The Empty Page - Dry Ice
The Empty Page is a band, actually a duo, from Manchester, UK. They've been active since 2015 and have a cult status among their followers. They released their latest album, Imploding, in May. Brutal, transparent, raw, and melodic songs, in equal parts dark and angry.
They continue in the tradition of Garbage, Placebo, and the riot grrl movement.
馃幎That's all for today, and enjoy your weekend with new songs!
