HI Hivers

A walk to the beach in Costa Rica is always fun! The days have a habit of starting with clear skies, and as the day draws on the clouds start to gather and by late afternoon it can make for a great sunset.

Below in my second picture is the peak of Volcan Baru which is actually about 35 km over the Panama border in Chiriqui province.

. It has erupted just a handful of times in the past 1,600 years... but who knows when it could be likely to erupt again, in our present climate of natural disasters and volcanic phenomina, who knows when it may burst into action again.

It is always special to catch sight of a three toed sloth in the tree tops. They always have an air of such utter serenity about them. I think their slow lifestyle has much to do with it. They live at a speed like little else, focused on little more than sleeping and eating flowers of the Cecropia Tree which is one of the most noticeable and easily identifiable of Neotropical trees with their slim, pale trunks and distinctive leaf shapes.

The days length is pretty much consistent in Costa Rica being close to the equator so all year round the sunrises around 6:30 am and sets at 6:30pm

In non touristy zones the locals close businesses like eateries around 8:30 pm and are in bed well before midnight - much closer to the ancient ways of way up with the sun and go to bed when it gets dark. I feel it is a healthier way to live to be honest and there is a belief that as far as quality of sleep goes that every hour slept before midnight is worth two slept after midnight. I feel that to be true when I retire earlier in the evenings.

Thanks for stopping by to take a stroll through the nature and sights of rural Costa Rica with me.
