Birthday Crochet Projects

Happy Monday y'all! My daughter gifted me 3 skeins of 8 ply milk cotton yarns on my birthday last year. She and her father were sounding suspicious for the past few days before my birthday, trying to hide their little surprise for me. It made me so happy, I was able to make 3 creations in a span of a few days.
Let me show you the 3 amazing projects I created. The first one was supposed to be a bag charm. My little one though had a different play for this crochet jellyfish bag charm. She gave it a name, I think it's Mr. Squiggly. I usually take a lot of time in my crochet project but for this one, I started it in the morning and finished it up in the afternoon. It so happened that I was still in my bag charm season when she gave me her gift and so naturally, the first project I could think of was this cute crochet jellyfish bag charm.
The second project I created was the crochet socks. I have always wanted to make a pair of crochet socks but I just couldn't find the right yarn, or the right feet to make the socks for, or the right time to make it. Philippines is a tropical country and in our household, we try our best to ensure that we don't use the AC as often as we can, so I know if I create a crochet socks, it's just going to be in a storage box somewhere.
For this one, I did a lot of frogging and stitching again and again. But since it was my birthday week, I took the time to do the fun things I want to do. Most of the time, when you ask mothers what they want to do on their birthday, I can almost expect that they'd want to do absolutely nothing. I felt that. And it felt good to just sit around and sing the Lazy Song while crocheting. I thing this may have been one of the reasons why my year last year was extra relaxed yet extra productive.
The third project I created was the beanie. I loved this beanie because I tried the cable stitch for this project. It was challenging at first because I think the yarn I was using was a bit too thick for the design I wanted to make. But I became a bit ambitious with this project and I was glad that I did. It turned out very beautifully. It was lacking that pompom at the top but I already ran out of yarns. That's another excuse to buy more skeins of yarns but I put that off until some time, I guess.
Before I could realize it, all three skeins of yarn were out. I finished all the yarns and I have completed all three projects. By far, this is the most productive and most gratifying series of projects I have ever made. It was the fastest too, with a lot of firsts. Maybe it was because those yarns were gifted by my daughter and it got me so inspired and energized. She loves giving gifts, and I love making handmade gifts. I loved how my daughter showed her love language which made me show my love language as well. And I love that she uses those gifts that I made for her.
