Newbie Initiative Task 3 || Basic Knowledge of Hive Keys and Security You Should Know.
The third Hive Learners Newbie meeting was held on 14th of October, 2023. The topic was a pressing issue on the Blockchain which is Hive Keys and Security.
I'm glad we had this topic early enough else very soon someone will fall victim of these scammers on HIVE, as they most times send you a link under the comment section. During the meeting, a newbie testified about her encounter with such phising links under her comment section.
What do these scammers do/say most times??
They promise to give you a certain amount of Hive (if you do what they ask of you) and they attach a link to it. The link takes you to another place that look like a site related to Hive where you're asked to login your username and keys.
Once you do that....itzzzz gone!.... they immediately jave access to your account and keys.

My Advice To Anyone On How To Keep Each Keys Safe
___________________________________________________
Our speaker talked about keeping his keys safe in his gmail. I would advice my partner to keep his/her keys in the Google drive or on gmail as an attacchment. I guess these are the two safest places one can keep such important thing.
One could also safe it on the phone's notepad/note book. It's a bit safe there too but someone else can access it if your phone is unlocked or you put descriptions like my Hive keys; rather, just safe it with acronyms or something that relates to hive keys.
The hive keys could also be kept safe in a book, where you write out all the keys. But one thing about this is that the book might get lost or torn. So, I personally kept mine on my laptop, my phone, my second whatsapp and my onboarder. Soon, I should move my keys to Google drive and gmail since they are seemingly the safest places.

TYPES OF KEYS AND THIER USES

Posting Key: is used for the regular activities on HIVE like posting, commenting and re-blogging. It doesn't function for any other purpose.
Active Key: is used for money related stuffs like Hive and HBD. It is used to transferring of tokens which cab be from or for any community. It is also used for power up and power down.
Memo Key: It is used to send an encrypted message to someone when you don't want any other person to see the message you are sending aside the person you're sending the messgae to.
Private Owner Key: is used only when your account has been tampered with or hacked. It is like a must have when an account is lost.
That's it guys!
