Minecraft Update: Exploring and trying to find a Jungle Biome

Hello and Welcome back to my blog!
I hope you are following our Minecraft series where @bemier and I are having a lot of fun. Last time, I shared about the new structure in Minecraft, Trail Chambers. You can read about it in this post. We also created a big Chicken Statue and a few automatic farms.
While we were making the huge chicken structure, I realised that we needed scaffolding. To make it, we needed to find a rare jungle biome and collect bamboo from there.
So, we gathered our essentials, like food, beds, and other equipment, and started exploring and finding more biomes we had never discovered. We just picked a direction and went there. We made some spyglasses so we could zoom in. But the render distance on this free server is so poor that we were ineffective. Nonetheless, they look cool.
Just a few hundred blocks into our journey we found Wolves! I wanted to tame them and bring bones from our home. Once you feed them they will follow you and protect you. Or if you don't want them to follow you, you can make them sit and they will stay there until you come back for them. Each of us tamed at least a couple of them.
We continued our journey and found a half-frozen lake. This time we had the Silk Touch enchanted pickaxe with us and it allowed us to mine ice blocks. So, we mined a few stacks of them.
But why need ice blocks? I have a project in mind that needs a lot of ice blocks. I am thinking of making an ice slide or a track so both of us can race in our boats. Speed on ice is increased on ice. It would be cool.
We made some chests and stored our stacks of blocks here. We didn't want to fill up our inventory with just ice. It wasn't too far from our base, we could come back here and collect these blocks later.
However, collecting only ice would not be fair to the ecosystem. You have to make maximum impact and exploit nature as much as you can (right?). So, I lit some polar bears on fire too. Now he was all warm and nice. (But why did he die a few seconds later? Hmmm... something is not right)
Our dogs were a bit annoying and coming in our way so we made a small dirt house for them and decided to leave them here and come back for them later.
We hopped into our boat and glided on ice. It was quite fun and a lot faster than I expected. I thought the frozen biome was not a big one but it turned out to be quite massive.
We experienced a beautiful snowfall too and fended off an attack from a mama bear who was just trying to protect her cub. There was a sunken ship in the water too. These ships usually have one or two chests with some good loot and map to a treasure chest too.
But this one was a bit off... it was like half generated. One side was full of sand and we couldn't find the chest after looking for like 10 minutes. So, we gave up and left this beautiful ice biome.
Moving forward, we found a Pillager's outpost. This was the second tower that we found. The first one was burnt to the ground and we wanted similar results here too.
It was surprising to see no one around here. There was a trapped Iron golem which we rescued. But weirdly no Pillagers were spawning. Usually, there is a chest on the top floor of the tower so we went straight for it.
There was a 'Goat horn' in it. I had never seen that horn before. This must have come out during one of the recent updates. Other than the horn there were just potatoes, carrots, arrows, wheat and crossbows. Nothing we didn't have.
Pillagers were not spawning even after we burned it down. Poor Iron Golem was waiting to kick some Pillager's ass.
We set sail again but couldn't find any jungle biome. So, we changed our strategy and continued our journey on foot. Maybe it is not close to a water body. They are quite rare too.
We found a ruined portal and mined the gold block. There was a golden helmet and a sword. Not too exciting.
And again... we found snow! This time it wasn't ice but a snowy forest. It looked good to my eyes. The snow is on top of trees and looks like whatever we do we can't get away from water. There was a river close to it.
We found another cool place. It looked like someone deleted a part of the ground. What a quirk of Minecraft generation. I love these oddities. Look at the water and lava... I think this was supposed to be a cave but the surface didn't generate for whatever reason.
The next screenshot is a bit weird. What were we doing in a boat on grass? Can you guess?
We looked for more than an hour but couldn't find the jungle biome. We will continue this adventure in the next post.
We had a lot of fun exploring different biomes and messing with the wildlife. And don't worry, we didn't forget about our Wolves. We picked them up when we went back after some time.
