A cafe, sauna and hostel in one | Cebu, PH

It's Friday flyday again! Aren't we all craving for another weekend? My week didn't start off on a high note; some things are just beyond my control but I tried to manage those that are within my control. And here I am about to share another gorgeous place in Cebu City.
Are you excited?
No need to go far
At the onset of our romantic relationship, GB and I have found solace in the idea that there are many places to visit in Cebu City where we can spend our quality time without going far. When we were a young couple, my mother wouldn't allow us to travel together. She didn't trust GB then (but she does now and recently told him "to take care of Pat" 😁).
I remember we had a little misunderstanding that week. I've always been proud of how we've managed and resolved misunderstandings, conflicts, and differences in beliefs. And we've always tried to resolve things as soon as possible, come out stronger, learn from the circumstances and change behavior to avoid experiencing the same problems in the future. That sounds like a healthy relationship! ❤️
It was Friday and as I've always mentioned that weekends are normally spent at home. But I felt I wanted to see him and talk over the little misunderstanding we had before heading home. Although we've talked about it over the phone, talking about it again face to face is just on a different level. There are days I just want to come running to him to claim my dose of happiness that only his hugs and kisses could give. 🥰
The next thing to consider is "Where? Where are we going to spend an hour or two at most before I head home?"
I have this college friend who's been modeling and endorsing events, spas and salons, clothing brands, and the like. One time, I saw her post about this place in the heart of the city. I remembered the place just when I was Googling "Cafes nearby". At first, I was hesitant to suggest the place, I thought it was just a sauna. Later on, I realize it was a cafe and a hostel, too! We got lucky, did we?
I asked my boyfriend if he's been there and if the idea of spending quality time there is good enough. He visited the place with a colleague before but he sounded excited as he loved their chocolate cake and would love to try it again.
He fetched me at my workplace and in less than 10 minutes we arrived in the cafe. It rained that afternoon, good thing we arrived before the heavy rain poured down. Even before we could step inside, I felt the place was oozing with tranquility, the kind that made me feel at home.
Time to be surprised!
We got in and this huge counter welcomed us. Even at the doorstep, I've seen how spacious this place is compared to other cafes and coffee shops I've been to. And confirmed, it's a 3-in-1 establishment that offers accommodation, sauna and massage, and of course, a variety of food to choose from. Maybe I wasn't just expecting it to be really huge.
This cute but snub family dog was also there to welcome us. He was a shy type, I'd say as he never showed interest in playing with us. GB tried his best to befriend him haha
The cafe's interior
There's nothing worth noting about the cafe's interior, except for its cozy atmosphere achieved through the warm lighting used everywhere in the cafe, some plants and paintings on walls, and furniture that are mostly wooden with metal.
And just when I thought that was it, our exploration led us to another spacious and open area of the cafe where more tables and chairs and a comfortable sofa awaited.
Here are more photos of the extension of the cafe:
Support Local
A center of attraction emerged. We saw this customized pallet cart that houses decorative items, souvenirs, jewelry, and accessories that are all made from recyclable materials. Also made by local artists and artisans. I saw bracelets and I remember GB wanted to have one so I bought him. He got a black one.
The mini pool and sauna
With the photos I've seen on social media, I really thought that their sauna was big and the dipping pool as well. But when I saw it with my own eyes, it was tiny that it could only decently accommodate 4-5 persons at a time. And no swimming just dipping really!
The sauna is just beside the pool. I wasn't able to take photos since there were people using it.
Time to eat
We didn't order a lot as it was just merienda. I heard that their empanada are delicious so we ordered it to confirm. Of course, GB ordered the chocolate cake he's been dying to taste again; he wanted me to taste it, too.
With so many seats available, I was cheerfully amazed to find this little secret corner where we settled; it was kinda secluded from the rest of the cafe. We needed it to chitchat and not worry about anyone else who might overhear our conversation.
Within minutes, we got the food we ordered. I also ordered mango shake while my boyfriend ordered beer.
When the chocolate cake was served, we immediately tasted it but my boyfriend was disappointed that the flavor had changed. He said it tasted was better the first time he tried it. I told him it was great but I tasted the cocoa powder; it was overpowering the entire cake's taste.
And a flex for my boyfriend who was sweet enough to bring me here and spend another wonderful time together! Now, I'm missing you love! 😘
We intend to go back and avail of their sauna and massage services. As Ayo-ayo Cafe is one of the few that offers sauna in the city. It's really not a thing here in Cebu, you know. Let's see if we can find time soon...
That's it for today. I hope you enjoyed this article. Have a blast this coming weekend! 😍
