Spotting/Bleeding at the later days of Pregnancy.

In my last post, I promised to share some things we need to know about late spotting, remember we talked about early spotting in the previous post, but that was at the early stage of pregnancy, as we correctly learned, but today, we look on unto the path of spotting or bleeding during pregnancy, at a later phase.

During the second trimester of pregnancy, some pain or discomfort is normal, spotting could be highly harmless at that stage. However, there are certain types of pain, bleeding, and vaginal discharge that must not be ignored. Some situations during pregnancy require urgent medical attention.
For so many people, the second trimester begins a moment of calm during pregnancy, as the symptoms of the first trimester would gradually go away, taking with it the feelings of muscle pain, anxiety, and exhaustion.
Bleeding is normal during the first trimester of pregnancy, it affects about 15-25% of pregnant women, second trimester bleeding is usually a more serious one than light bleeding, the cause could be a case of mild inflammation to the issue with the placenta or cervix. So when a woman is bleeding, it doesn't necessarily mean the woman is having a miscarriage or going into labor.
The possible causes of bleeding that could happen in the second trimester are;
Minor cervical irritation: When spotting is light and it takes about a day or two, it could be completely normal, but when the blood vessel gets inflamed, especially when the weight of the uterus places pressure on them, some women will slightly experience bleeding after there has been sex or pelvic examination.
Cervical growths: Cervical polyps are benign or non-cancerous, the growth occurs on the cervix, they are common and will most likely not create problems. During pregnancy, there is a possibility that the cervical polyps would swell or get irritated, making them bleed. A quick examination could make it easily possible for the doctors to determine if the cervical growth is responsible for the experienced bleeding of the pregnant woman.

- Placenta difficulties: The placenta is an organ in the human body that protects and nourishes the developing baby, the problems that are associated with the organ, are a major cause of dangerous bleeding in pregnant women. Some of the possible placenta difficulties are, placenta previa, placenta abruption, and placenta accreta.
PLACENTA PREVIA is when the placenta is low in the uterus, it may either partially or fully cover the cervix, leading to a case of bleeding all through the pregnancy phase, and in highly severe scenarios, medical experts may recommend a need for extra monitoring and observation or a cesarean delivery procedure.
PLACENTA ABRUPTION, in some situations the placenta gets detached from the uterus at a very early stage which could result in back pain and serious stomach cramps, but detecting on time will help prevent complications for both mother and child.
PLACENTA ACCRETA, makes the placenta grow on a much deeper level into the uterus more than usual. There is a stronger likelihood of the bleeding happening during the third trimester than in the second trimester. However, during the delivery phase, the bleeding could become a life-threatening situation, that would require high-skilled professionals to remain alert to eradicate the problems that may be attached.
Bleeding at a later pregnancy phase could also be an early sign of labor, some pregnant women may notice an unusual discharge, often referred to as a mucous plug, and a mucous plug has the resemblance of viganal discharge, blood, and mucous. When labor starts before 37 weeks, there is a very high chance that the baby may have to stay in the Intensive care unit.
Are you aware that miscarriage can happen in 3 ways;
The first type is if there is bleeding that happens before 20 weeks of pregnancy, where there is no cervical dilation, and there is no explosion of any fetal parts.
The second type of miscarriage is a complete one, where there is a complete expulsion of fetal parts from the body.
The third type is incomplete miscarriage, in this case, there is partial expulsion of the fetal parts before 20 weeks. When there is an incomplete miscarriage, the next focus will be to find a way to take out the remaining product.
As a pregnant woman, there is a need to know what the signs of emergencies are, and then seek help as soon as you need to, at the point when;
There is serious abdominal pain or pelvic region pain.
When you can find clots or clumps of tissues passed from the vagina, especially when the discharge is gray or pink in color.
When the vaginal bleeding is sufficient enough to soak through a menstrual pad, there is also a problem, and with any of these signs, you must seek professional help immediately.
