Importance of This Festival
Jitiya Vrat is also known as Jivitputrika Vrat. Married women keep this fast for the long life of their children.This fast is mainly celebrated with great gaiety in states like Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Nepal, West Bengal.
For the long life of the child, women keep the fast of Jeetiya and it is also believed that keeping this fast gives special blessings of JIMUTWAHAN.
This fast is considered to be one of the most difficult fasts because in this you have to stay without eating and without drinking water for more than 24 hours because this fast starts from 12:00 in the night and whatever dish we have prepared, we dedicate it to our ancestors and after that at sunset we offer bhog to the Sun God and offer water. And after doing all this we will hear the story of JIMUTVAHAN for the completion of this fast and on the next day at sunrise, the women who have observed a fast worship the Sun God and take prasad.
As I have told you all before that my mother has a different importance in my life.She always thinks about us, without caring about herself, I am saying this because she is diabetic patient and fasting for so long without eating food and drinking water is not good for her health but instead of thinking about herself she always use to think about ourselves because it is believe in our rituals that by fasting on this special day you can increase the life of their childrens. She used to fast is an every year only for us.No matter how much we people refuse to keep fasting, she does not agree, she says that if I want to keep fasting then I will.So we also support her decision and allow her to keep fast, but we will try to do as much work as we can.So that she do not have to work lately and she can save a little energy, due to which her health does not deteriorate.
