Attentive magpie

On the way to the city park we have a small hill along which the road goes. There are trees growing next to the road. The place is quiet and you can often see birds there. I always try to walk along the path next to the road between the trees. Yesterday I walked during the day. The weather is great, warm, but not hot. At the edge of the hill I saw a magpie sitting in the grass.
She sat motionless and kept looking at the cars passing by.
She paid almost no attention to me. Apparently I was not interesting to her.
Her attention was directed only towards the moving cars. I just wonder what attracted her to them so much.
Noticing a car in the distance, she kept following it with her eyes until it moved away.
When there were no cars, she froze and sat quietly in the grass, waiting for the next car to arrive.
When I started to approach her, she turned around and looked at me reproachfully. Her whole appearance indicated that I had disturbed her observations.
