Top 5 Isekai Animes of the Winter Season (2025) | Nattosheru Review [ENG/SPA]

Hello, anime fans. With spring just a few days away, the winter season is coming to an end with a wide variety of anime of all kinds. In this case, as far as the Isekai demographic is concerned, this season was heavily loaded with works of this style, with the occasional variation. It is common to see so many Isekai anime completely monopolizing the industry with so many airings every season. However, despite how highly popular and commercial this genre or demographic is in the industry, the sheer number of stories cause quality and originality to be harder and harder to come by. This is why I bring you each season of the year a "Top 5" or "Top 7" Isekai anime to give you the ease of being able to choose which one to watch.
This time I will present you five anime that I considered worthy of talking about here, at least a little more decent than one or two others out there. I also left out the second part of the third season of Re:Zero, which needs no introduction to know -and even more so now with the success it is having in broadcasting- that it is the best of all the Isekai anime that currently exist. Honestly, I consider it worth taking a look at this personal list I have made with one or two other recommendations suitable for all lovers of the fantasy genre and medieval worlds with heroes and adventures. Keep in mind that, as I have always told you, what you will read is only my personal opinion, as are the ratings and the descending order you will see below.

Hola, fanáticos del anime. Con la primavera a pocos días de comenzar, la temporada de invierno llega a su fin con una gran variedad de animes de todo tipo. En este caso, en cuanto a la demografía Isekai, esta temporada estuvo muy cargada de obras de este estilo, con alguna que otra variación. Es común ver tantos animes Isekai acaparando por completo la industria con tantas emisiones todas las temporadas. Sin embargo, a pesar de lo altamente popular y comercial que es este género o demografía en la industria, la gran cantidad de historias causan que la calidad y originalidad sea cada vez más difícil de conseguir. Es por esto que les traigo en cada temporada del año un “Top 5” o un “Top 7” de animes Isekai para así darles la facilidad de poder elegir cuál ver.
En esta ocasión les presentaré cinco animes que consideré dignas de hablar aquí, al menos un tanto más decentes que uno que otro por ahí. También dejé de lado la segunda parte de la tercera temporada de Re:Zero, la cual no hace falta presentación para saber -y más ahora con el éxito que está teniendo en emisión- que es el mejor de todos los animes Isekai que existen actualmente. Sinceramente, considero que vale la pena echarle un vistazo a esta lista personal que he hecho con una que otra recomendación adecuada para todos los amantes del género de fantasía y los mundos medievales con héroes y aventuras. Tengan en cuenta que, como siempre les he dicho, lo que leerán es únicamente mi opinión personal, al igual que son las calificaciones y el orden descendente que verán a continuación.

Let's start with one of the most generic Isekai anime I've ever seen, with a plot and characters that are as common as they are predictable. Not to mention its typical animation, lacking fluidity and originality. Based on the eponymous light novel series written by Kogitsunemaru and illustrated by Hitogome, this animated adaptation was produced by Studio Comet. The story is about an ordinary man named Takumi Iruma who is accidentally chosen from a small group of heroes who have been summoned from a medieval, fantastical world. As compensation, a goddess appears to offer him any ability he desires and gives him the chance to live a peaceful life (apparently) with a new body.
As I said above, this is yet another generic anime in the vast world of Isekai demographics. And by "generic" I mean the typical story of the protagonist chosen (either by mistake or for some other reason that is never explained to us well at the beginning) to be sent to a medieval and fantastic world as its hero with gifted powers or "abilities" that, practically, makes him someone invincible against enemies and monsters of all kinds. With this also comes the typical "harem" that the protagonist always gets in any fantasy anime, plus the typical villains with little development and originality and the frequent exaggerated adulation of everyone towards the main character who miraculously always gets his way.
While, unlike most, in this anime we see a main character trying to live a quiet life creating things that are in his world with "alchemy" (but not the same alchemy of Fullmetal Alchemist, obviously) and magic; this does not detract from the fact that over time and the things he does in this place makes him the hero of this story. So no matter how much they try to pretend to be a different story, it's still the same as always. In terms of production, the animation quality it offers us is just as generic as its plot and characters. With generally static shots, little fluidity and simple visual effects; it is evident that this anime has gone unnoticed this season because of how common it is with most current Isekai anime.
Personally, I give it a 5.5/10 rating as far as Isekai genre/demography is concerned.

Empecemos con uno de los animes Isekai más genéricos que he visto en mi vida, con una trama y personajes tan comunes como a la vez predecibles. Eso sin contar la animación tan típica y carente de fluidez y originalidad que tiene. Basada en la serie de novelas ligeras homónima escrita por Kogitsunemaru e ilustrada por Hitogome, esta adaptación animada fue producida por Studio Comet. La historia trata de un hombre común y corriente llamado Takumi Iruma que es accidentalmente escogido de entre un pequeño grupo de héroes que han sido invocados desde un mundo medieval y fantástico. Como compensación, una diosa aparece para ofrecerle cualquier habilidad que desee y le da la posibilidad de vivir una vida pacífica (aparentemente) con un nuevo cuerpo.
Como ya dije arriba, este es un anime genérico más del extenso mundo de la demografía Isekai. Y con “genérico” me refiero a la típica historia del protagonista elegido (ya sea por error o por cualquier otra razón que nunca nos explican bien al principio) para ser enviado a un mundo medieval y fantástico como su héroe con poderes o “habilidades” regaladas que, prácticamente, lo hace alguien invencible contra enemigos y monstruos de todo tipo. Con esto se suma también el típico “harem” que el protagonista siempre consigue en cualquier anime de fantasía, además de los típicos villanos con escaso desarrollo y originalidad y la exagerada adulación frecuente de todo el mundo hacia el personaje principal que milagrosamente siempre se sale con la suya.
Si bien, a diferencia de la mayoría, en este anime vemos a un personaje principal intentando vivir una vida tranquila creando cosas que hay en su mundo con “alquimia” (pero no la misma alquimia de Fullmetal Alchemist, obviamente) y magia; esto no quita que con el tiempo y las cosas que haga en este lugar lo convierte en en el héroe de esta historia. Así que por mucho que intenten aparentar ser una historia diferente, sigue siendo lo mismo de siempre. En cuanto a producción, la calidad de animación que nos ofrece es igual de genérica que su misma trama y personajes. Con planos generalmente estáticos, poca fluidez y efectos visuales simples; es evidente que este anime haya pasado desapercibido esta temporada por lo común que es con la mayoría de animes Isekai actuales.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 5.5/10 en lo que respecta al género/demografía Isekai.

Let's talk now about an Isekai anime that, unlike the previous one, this one does offer a somewhat different story with a protagonist that is quite far from the typical hero summoned from the other world. For an anime with a different premise and story than most, it must be admitted that its lack of popularity and animation leaves much to be desired. Based on the eponymous manga series written by Beginashira and illustrated by Muramitsu, this anime adaptation was produced by Geek Toys studio and CompTown. The story revolves around Uchimura Dennosuke, a simple hired man who was run over and dies (as always happens in these anime) and then is summoned to another world by the great Demon King. The latter congratulates him for the great work he has done in his world, despite the fact that everyone has held him in very low esteem, and as a reward offers him a job as one of the "Four Heavenly Kings".
While it is true that it is common to see that almost all the protagonists of Isekai anime are people who have had an unfortunate life, are salaried or die in a pathetic way; it is not very often to see the protagonist living in a medieval and fantastic world as a normal person, without gifted powers or special abilities. And this is the case of Uchimura Dennosuke, who even in this fantasy world and together with the powerful Demon King, works as his subordinate using only his experience and knowledge as a clerk and salaryman. It is interesting to see a plot that revolves more around a clerk solving governmental, social and political cases in a world where humans, semi-humans and demons are in the middle of a war. This, surprisingly to many, gives this work a unique touch making it different from most Isekai anime out there today.
On the other hand, while it has its strengths in terms of story and authentic character development, it fails badly when it comes to production. With two studios in charge, it seems that they failed to achieve a good atmosphere and fluidity in terms of animation. Like the previous one, this work lacks originality in terms of animation, with generally static shots and poor fluidity. But worst of all is the soundtrack, which always seems to be a concert of independent drummers. Sounds and melodies out of atmosphere and with a volume that sometimes make the voices of the characters remain in the background. This may not be a big deal for many, but for me the quality of production and animation is as important as good story and character construction in a work, and even more so if it is of a genre as popular as this one.
Personally, I give it a 6.5/10 rating as far as Isekai genre/demography is concerned.

Hablemos ahora de un anime Isekai que, a diferencia del anterior, este sí ofrece una historia un tanto diferente con un protagonista que se aleja bastante del típico héroe invocado del otro mundo. Para ser un anime con una premisa e historia diferentes a la mayoría, hay que admitir que su poca popularidad y su animación deja mucho que desear. Basada en la homónima serie de manga escrita por Beginashira e ilustrada por Muramitsu, esta adaptación animada fue producida por el estudio Geek Toys y CompTown. La historia gira en torno a Uchimura Dennosuke, un simple hombre asalariado que fue atropellado y muere (como siempre sucede en estos animes) para luego ser invocado en otro mundo por el gran Rey Demonio. Este lo felicita por el grandioso trabajo que ha realizado en su mundo, a pesar de que todos le hayan tenido muy poca estima, y como recompensa le ofrece trabajo como uno de los “Cuatro Reyes Celestiales”.
Si bien es cierto que es común ver que casi todos los protagonistas de animes Isekai son personas que han tenido una vida desafortunada, son asalariados o mueren de una forma patética; no es muy seguido ver al protagonista vivir en un mundo medieval y fantástico como una persona normal, sin poderes regalados ni habilidades especiales. Y este es el caso del Uchimura Dennosuke, el cual aún en este mundo fantástico y junto con el poderoso Rey Demonio, trabaja como su subordinado usando solamente su experiencia y conocimientos como oficinista y asalariado. Es interesante ver una trama que gira más en torno a un oficinista resolviendo casos gubernamentales, sociales y políticos en un mundo donde los humanos, los semihumanos y los demonios están en medio de una guerra. Esto, sorprendentemente para muchos, le da un toque único a esta obra haciéndola diferente a la mayoría de animes Isekai que existen en la actualidad.
En cambio, si bien tiene sus puntos fuertes en cuanto a la historia y desarrollo de personajes auténticos, falla mucho en lo que respecta a producción. Con dos estudios a cargo, parece que no lograron conseguir una buena ambientación y fluidez en lo que respecta a animación. Al igual que el anterior, esta obra carece de originalidad en cuanto a animación, con planos generalmente estáticos y escasa fluidez. Pero lo peor de todo es la banda sonora, la cual parece que fuera siempre un concierto de bateristas independientes. Sonidos y melodías fuera de ambiente y con un volumen que a veces hacen que las voces de los personajes queden en segundo plano. Puede que esto no sea gran cosa para muchos, pero para mí la calidad de producción y animación es tan importante como la buena construcción de historia y personajes en una obra, y más si es de un género tan popular como este.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 6.5/10 en lo que respecta al género/demografía Isekai.

Let's continue with an anime that practically references the famous Super Sentai series (or as they are known in the west, Power Rangers), but with the typical elements of the Isekai demographic. While it's true that there are Isekais of almost every type, this is the first time I've seen a story with a Sentai/Red Ranger as the main character. Based on the manga series of the same name, written and illustrated by Koyoshi Nakayoshi, this animated adaptation is produced by Statelight studio. The story revolves around Tōgo Asagaki, leader of the Super Sentai-like hero group, who has the ability to become Kizuna Red. Tōgo is sent to a fantastic, medieval world, right after defeating the leader of an evil supervillain organization. Now, he searches for a way to return to his world while becoming an adventurer and accompanying Idola Avon, a young sorceress who seeks to restore her family's honor.
For not being a fan of the Super Sentai (or Power Rangers, as I know them), I must admit that this mix of genres and different worlds is curious to say the least and even more so in an Isekai anime. The clear references to the popular superhero saga, with the typical transformations, costumes, choreographies and poses, equipment and even mechas is the most frequent in this series. The same goes for that ironic and recurring humor directed at the main character and the unknown source of his power. While it can become a bit generic and absurd in many ways, this anime manages to break away from the routine of the Isekais with a superhero as the main character and a plot that wraps itself in battles after battles in a medieval and fantastic world. On the other hand, its animation may not be the best in the world, but it has a level of quality somewhat better than the aforementioned works, although with a frequent use of CGI, but only in equipment or mechas. Otherwise, it has very good combat scenes, a nice fluidity and a good soundtrack.
Personally, I give it a rating of 7.5/10 as far as Isekai genre/demography is concerned.

Sigamos con un anime que prácticamente hace referencia a la famosa serie de Super Sentai (o como se conocen en occidente, Power Rangers), pero con los típicos elementos de la demografía Isekai. Si bien es cierto que hay Isekais de casi todo tipo, esta es la primera vez en la que veo una historia con un Sentai/Ranger Rojo como protagonista. Basada en la serie de manga que lleva su mismo nombre, escrita e ilustrada por Koyoshi Nakayoshi, esta adaptación animada está producida por el estudio Statelight. La historia gira en torno a Tōgo Asagaki, líder del grupo de héroes similares a Super Sentai, quien tiene la habilidad de convertirse en Kizuna Red. Tōgo es enviado a un mundo fantástico y medieval, justo después de vencer al líder de una malvada organización de supervillanos. Ahora, este busca la forma de regresar a su mundo mientras se convierte en aventurero y acompaña a Idola Avon, una joven hechicera que busca restaurar el honor de su familia.
Para no ser un fan de los Super Sentai (o Power Rangers, como los conozco yo), debo admitir que esta mezcla de géneros y mundos diferentes es cuanto menos curiosa y más en un anime Isekai. Las claras referencias a la popular saga de superhéroes, con las típicas transformaciones, los trajes, las coreografías y poses, los equipos y hasta los mechas es de lo más frecuente en esta serie. Lo mismo ocurre con ese humor irónico y recurrente dirigido al personaje principal y la desconocida fuente de su poder. Si bien puede llegar a ser un poco genérico y absurdo en muchos sentidos, este anime logra romper con la rutina de los Isekais con un superhéroe como protagonista y una trama que se envuelve en batallas tras batallas en un mundo medieval y fantástico. Por otro lado, su animación puede que no sea de lo mejor del mundo, pero posee un nivel de calidad un tanto mejor que las obras anteriormente mencionadas, aunque con un uso frecuente de CGI, pero solo en equipos o mechas. De resto, tiene muy buenas escenas de combate, una fluidez agradable y una buena banda sonora.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 7.5/10 en lo que respecta al género/demografía Isekai.

Let's talk now about an anime very different from what we have presented so far. A series that is one of those examples of the classic phrase "nothing is what it appears to be". With a plot and character so atypical within a variation of the same Isekai demographic, this anime presents us with a version full of humor, references to Otaku culture and moments that are most entertaining. Based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Michiro Ueyama, this anime adaptation was produced by Ajia-do Animation Works. The anime tells the story of an elderly office worker named Kenzaburō Tondabayashi, who is run over by a truck on his way home one day. However, he later wakes up as Grace Auvergne, the daughter of a grand duke and villain of an Otome video game that is curiously his daughter's favorite.
Yes, it is one of the strangest and most absurd plots or anime I have met to date. Although it may not seem like it, it is common to see this kind of plots in Isekai anime, more so in Reverse Isekais which are a small variation of this demographic, which is also becoming very popular nowadays in the industry. But despite the appearances this anime may have, it is one of the most peaceful and entertaining anime I've seen this season, hands down. Despite being an older gentleman reborn in the body of a young girl from a noble family, the role he plays in this story is most entertaining, with funny dialogues and unexpected development between the protagonist and his supporting characters. But the most interesting thing is that the series itself manages to break its own wall by watching the POV of the protagonist's daughter and wife, who are watching everything that happens in this fantastic world on an LED screen as if it were a video game.
On the other hand, there are also the tastes or preferences of the characters, mostly of the protagonist's family, who ironically all three are Otaku. It is here where the dynamism of the plot with the development of the video game and the characters are unraveling in a new and unexpected "route". Of course, the lack of action, adventures and fanservice is something normal in this anime being from an Otome video game where it focuses more on the development and experiences lived by the main character and his companions. Finally, the animation it has is something that gives it a very big extra plus. Surprisingly, I can say that it is one of the anime with the best quality -until this post-, either for its design and style of drawing and characters, its fluidity and good use of visual effects, and even for its so catchy and emotional soundtrack it has. By the way, both its Opening and Ending is one of my favorites of this season.

Hablemos ahora de un anime muy diferente a lo que hemos presentado hasta ahora. Una serie que es de esos ejemplos de la clásica frase “nada es lo que aparenta ser”. Con una trama y un personaje tan atípicos dentro de una variación de la misma demografía Isekai, este anime nos presenta una versión repleta de humor, referencias a la cultura Otaku y momentos que son de lo más entretenido. Basada en la serie de manga homónima escrita e ilustrada por Michiro Ueyama, esta adaptación animada fue producida por el estudio Ajia-do Animation Works. El anime nos relata la historia de un oficinista asalariado de tercera edad llamado Kenzaburō Tondabayashi, quien un día y de regreso a casa, es atropellado por un camión. Sin embargo, este despierta luego siendo Grace Auvergne, la hija de un gran duque y villana de un videojuego Otome que curiosamente es el favorito de su hija.
Si, es de las tramas o animes más extraños y absurdos que he conocido hasta la fecha. Aunque no lo parezca, es común ver este tipo de tramas en anime Isekai, más en Isekais Inversos que son una pequeña variación de esta demografía, la cual también se está haciendo muy popular actualmente en la industria. Pero a pesar de las apariencias que puede tener este anime, es de los más tranquilos y entretenidos que he visto de esta temporada, sin duda alguna. A pesar de ser un señor mayor renacido en el cuerpo de una joven de familia noble, el papel que desempeña en esta historia es de lo más entretenido, con diálogos divertidos y un desarrollo inesperado entre el protagonista y sus personajes secundarios. Pero lo más interesante es que la misma serie logra romper su propia pared al ver el POV de la hija y la esposa del protagonista, quienes están viendo todo lo que sucede en este mundo fantástico en una pantalla LED como si fuera un videojuego.
Por otro lado, están también los gustos o preferencias de los personajes, más que nada de la familia del protagonista, quienes irónicamente todos tres son Otakus. Es aquí donde el dinamismo de la trama con el desarrollo del videojuego y los personajes se van desenlazando en una “ruta” nueva e inesperada. Claro, la falta de acción, aventuras y fanservice es algo normal en este anime al ser de un videojuego Otome donde se centra más en el desarrollo y las experiencias vividas por el personaje principal y sus compañeros. Por último, la animación que tiene es algo que le da un plus extra muy grande. Sorprendente, puedo decir que es de los animes con mejor calidad -hasta este puesto-, ya sea por su diseño y estilo de dibujo y personajes, su fluidez y buen uso de los efectos visuales, e incluso por su banda sonora tan pegajosa y emotiva que tiene. Por cierto, tanto su Opening como su Ending es de mis favoritos de esta temporada.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 8/10 en lo que respecta al género/demografía Isekai.

We end this top with what, for me, is one of the best Isekai anime of adventure, action and drama that I have seen to date. I remember very well when several months ago, shortly before it began its broadcast, this show was presented on social networks as something so special and unique in its style that the expectations people had at that time were quite high. It wasn't until the first episode was aired that people were disappointed, mostly because it ended up being an Isekai, but not "just another one of the bunch". And the fact is that this series is an original from MAPPA, one of the biggest and most famous animation studios of the last decade in Japan and the world. That's why, in terms of animation, we know we were going to see something top quality, although its story had much more impact than people expected in the end.
The anime introduces us to Hirose Natsuko, who is known worldwide for being one of the best animators of her generation, as well as a director. Her first and biggest success brings her to fame, although her next bet is more difficult than she expects, being a typical romantic comedy (what a lot of references to the reality of this industry we see here). One day, in her studio, Natsuko collapses to the ground after getting intoxicated with her lunch and dies, but not before waking up in the middle of a huge desert with a monster in front of her. It is here where her hero and protagonist of her favorite movie, "The Condemned Story", appears to save her life. Yes, many will say that for appearing to be a run-of-the-mill Isekai anime, it has an interesting premise. Well, that's what anyone might think until shortly after they realize that our protagonist can use her cheerleading skills to save this world doomed by eternal darkness.
As I mentioned, it has everything that an Isekai anime in essence possesses. But what makes this anime the best of this top is not its interesting premise, but the way they develop its story and characters, which are somewhat peculiar, especially the protagonist. Leaving aside Hirose Natsuko, we see a world that, according to the original work in which it was created, is doomed to one of the most terrible and heartbreaking endings in existence. However, the small group of heroes now has the chance to change the fate of this world thanks to the help of Natsuko, who will seek to remake this history. With action scenes, explosions and incredible battles; it is clear that we are talking about an original work of MAPPA, no more and no less. The quality and details in its colorful and varied animation style, the excellent fluidity it possesses, the very particular character designs and the excellent use of visual effects, lights and shadows is one of the best you can find in an anime of this season. Oh, and not to mention its soundtrack, which sets the scene very well. Not to mention its Opening and Ending, which are fantastic audiovisual works.
Personally, I give it a 9.5/10 rating as far as Isekai genre/demography is concerned.

Finalizamos este top con el que, para mí, es uno de los mejores animes Isekai de aventuras, acción y drama que he visto hasta la fecha. Recuerdo muy bien cuando hace varios meses, poco antes de que empezara su emisión, esta obra la presentaron en redes sociales como algo tan especial y único en su estilo que las expectativas que tenía la gente en ese momento fueron bastante altas. No fue sino cuando se emitió su primer episodio que la gente se decepcionó, mayormente porque terminó siendo un Isekai, pero no uno “más del montón”. Y es que esta serie es original de MAPPA, uno de los estudios de animación más grandes y famosos de la última década en Japón y el mundo. Es por eso que, en cuanto a animación, sabemos que íbamos a ver algo de primera calidad, aunque su historia impactó mucho más de lo que la gente esperaba al final.
El anime nos presenta a Hirose Natsuko, quien es conocida mundialmente por ser una de las mejores animadoras de su generación, a su vez que también es directora. Su primero y mayor éxito la lleva a la fama, aunque su próxima apuesta es más difícil de lo que ella espera, siendo este una típica comedia romántica (vaya cantidad de referencias a la realidad de esta industria vemos aquí). Un día, en su estudio, Natsuko se desploma al suelo luego de intoxicarse con su almuerzo y fallece, no sin antes despertar en medio de un gran desierto con un monstruo en frente. Es aquí donde su héroe y protagonista de su película favorita, “La historia condenada”, aparece para salvarle la vida. Si, muchos dirán que para aparentar ser un anime Isekai del montón, tiene una premisa interesante. Pues bueno, eso es lo que puede pensar cualquiera hasta que poco después se dan cuenta de que nuestra protagonista puede usar sus habilidades como animadora para salvar este mundo condenado por la oscuridad eterna.
Como ya mencioné, tiene todo lo que un anime Isekai en esencia posee. Pero lo que hace de este anime el mejor de este top no es su interesante premisa, sino la forma en la que desarrollan su historia y a sus personajes, los cuales son un tanto peculiares, sobre todo la protagonista. Dejando de lado a Hirose Natsuko, vemos un mundo que, según la obra original en la que fue creada, está condenado a uno de los finales más terribles y desgarradores que existen. Sin embargo, el pequeño grupo de héroes tiene ahora la posibilidad de cambiar el destino de este mundo gracias a la ayuda de Natsuko, quien buscará rehacer esta historia. Con escenas de acción, explosiones y batallas increíbles; está claro que hablamos de una obra original de MAPPA, ni más ni menos. La calidad y detalles en su estilo de animación colorido y variado, la excelente fluidez que posee, los diseños de los personajes tan particulares y el excelente uso de los efectos visuales, luces y sombras es de lo mejor que se puede encontrar en un anime de esta temporada.
