Local iconic bar destroyed by fire

Mabel Murphy's...a drinking place.
Housed in a building erected in 1890 and ajoined by a two story apartment the iconic bar on the corner of Irving and Main, Oshkosh WI burned to the ground in less than an hour earlier this week.
Thankfully the apartments were evacuated and no one was injured. The apartments and two stores below also a total loss, altough still standing.
Two cars in the lot also damaged.
Not much recognizeable in the rubble.
The bar had its 45th anniversary planned for yesterday. Makes it even more unbelievable. But, in true Wisconsin fashion, as they are loyal to their favorite drinking sites, they have placed flowers and balloons in honor of the anniversary and the demise.
The bar did house many old keepsakes and that is all gone as well. A sad day even if you weren't a patron.
But the firemen were able to save the famous sign! :)
