Hi Community

Battle One is a beat that as the name suggests is rather dark and evil.
I don't want to explain the whole beat structure here. But I would like to go into a few details that I find very important on the beat. Maybe it helps you as inspiration.

The choir

For the choir I used the sampler Mimic.
This sampler can be used in different modes.
Pitch, Slice, Multi Slot and Multi Pitch. My choice for this beat was the Slice mode.
The sample of the choir is divided into so called "Chops". When I played in the individual samples, I played the whole thing about 2-3 octaves lower so that the basic tone of the beat is correct. In this beat it would be "A Major".

One order for the parts and one for the hook.

The Drums

The special thing about these drums is that I don't have them in a single drum sampler.
The bass drum is actually a cardboard box pitched down. After that it was used as a layer with a Libary bassdrum. The snare is my balcony door.
Both had the highs cut out with the EQ, or in the case of the snare, the lows and lower mids of the frequencies!

The hihats in the hook are normal 16th hits. However, I like to route the hihats into the "ReGroove Mixer". There I can add a swng that irregularly shifts the individual midi notes by individual "tiks" or small bars. Additionally the velocity is reduced or increased. This way the 16th note loses its constancy and seems more dynamic and less programmed.

In the next video I will try to go into detail about the plugins and the precussions!
