Hello Hive

Yesterday we were at the farms for weeding and to clear the grasses in our casava farms to provide the best condition for our cassava to thrive well. There was no way we could weed the grasses with hoes as they were quite taller and overshadowed the growing cassava , after the decision to make use of a moderate herbicides my brothers carried the spraying cans and went about that duty while myself and another was going to the nearby village to fetch the needed water. The closest water source to the farm was about 20mins drive and this was the only functional hand pump borehole available.

At about the time when I got some free moments I decided to go through the farm and found some of our soya beans that were good for harvest.

I was surprised to see this since we have earlier come for harvest and there was nothing to harvest. Now take a look at these soya beans from the middle of the farm.

That was when I them remembered that we have planted our soya beans in two sessions. One was planted in the month of May while the other was planted in the late June to early July.

This was the one we planted in the latter season, this made me to realize some important facts to learn about soya beans and a perfect timing to grow some within this region

One important thing to note is that most of these leguminous family crops do not require heavy rainfall for their growth and production.
Crops like beans and soya beans most especially.

It is expected that we are to plan the timing for growing them such that whenever they are at the fertilization stage heavy rainfalls does not was off the pollen grains/flowers. We are to plan the cycle of planting these in such a way that the crops will be able to grow and produce well without the interference heavy from rain.

From these you can decide to plant your soya beans early or late

The early category would be in the month of MAY/June such that flowering stage can escape the slightly heavy rains of July. Harvest can be done in the August.

While another category can be planted in the late August, which will remain at the growth stage through the month of September and fertilization will be after the heavy rains. These are the two sessions that may be feasible for growing soya beans within this region. The fertilization stage of our later planted soya beans must have escaped heavy rains and the seeds too have gotten rotten at this time that is why there is something to harvest today.

This can be an used as an estimate timing and guide along side the weather forecast of the region for proper growth of our soya beans.

I kept picking soya beans until I got about 1.2kg of soya beans enough to make some milk.

I would be using this to make my first every soya milk as I love soya milk so much compared to the animal milk that often makes me inconvenient. From all of these experiences I would love to grow soya beans one more time and hope to be successful with it
