Wheels again - small ones ;)

Last week I talked about my memories of some adventures that happened with one of my bicycles I had. I was already almost grown up, but not really. Late teenage days - not an adult but not a child either. Complicated years, as they say. Now my son, who is almost the same age as I was in that post of mine, is looking for a new bicycle to take with him to the city where he will study. We will see if that wish of him will come true.

For now, what I can tell you is that this little black-orange bike you see in the photos was the first real bicycle he got without auxiliary wheels. Before that, he had one with those little wheels that help with the balance. He outgrew that one and we bought this cool bike for him when he was six years old.

He still needed some help to keep his balance and not let his leg off the pedals every once in a while. I remember those afternoons when we held his back and his arms, helping him gain confidence. The learning phase went by quite quickly; it is normal for children to learn to ride a bike faster than perhaps adults. Of course, there are always times when a learner falls, but it's fine if he knows how to get to the ground without serious injury.

The moment captured in the following photograph tells us that he completely mastered the art of pedalling. But he... well, he rode his bicycle like a kamikaze among passers-by. 😂

Luckily, no one was injured in these episodes of his bicycle adventures.

And what about the police car that appears there...? 😱

...maybe he had to pay a fine for riding his bike on the sidewalk and not on the bike lane... 😁

That is just a joke. Everything was under control and after all, he knew how to behave with his bike.

Here we see him coming towards us where all the bikes have to go. Having the freedom to ride where he wanted didn't mean he could run over anyone, and he knew that.

On the day these photographs were taken he was wearing a T-shirt with the inscription World Grand Prix. A race for him - on two wheels. Maybe it was a coincidence or on purpose, I don't remember now.

A photo session also took place on the seashore, this time without a helmet but proudly holding his BMX-type bicycle.

He used it for many years before we sold it and bought him an MTB, which was stolen from the garage of our building 🤦‍♀ (history repeats itself... since my sister's bike was also stolen when we were children). Anyway, this little BMX was a well-loved bike and hopefully serves other kids now. Ah, but we have the helmet. Of course, it is too small for any of us in the home to wear it - these moments happened more than a decade ago and probably we grew a bit since then. 😂
