No, I'm not the "jack of all trades" at home, it's my dad.
It's really fascinating what can be made out of nothing and the habit of doing things yourself seem to favour the person and people around them no matter how little it may seem.
I've always been amazed by items I see in my house and the house of others that were not actually bought but made with hands by someone inside the house. I call it a "jack of all trades" feeling at home and that is because you see an art person creating a science item and vice versa meaning, people who DIY things are thinking outside the box to do even what they were not trained to do.
Like I said I can't think of anything I've created myself at home or at least recreated but my dad has done a lot and I think my Bro understood the assignment because he is taking over now. Just before I started to write the post, a lot of their past DIY work came to mind and I just smiled thinking of how happy we were to see items work fine as if we spent money to get them.
My dad is a engineer by profession and a part of his job requires him making huge iron pipes for refineries. We do watch him work when we were little until his company moved to a new place, I can still remember how they create very fine pipes from what seems like a useless iron. Dad brought that habit home and we've been having some nice and cool items in our home because of him.
One of them I like most and we still have them is a short iron cup.
Dad didn't just create a cup out of the iron from his work place, he also made it so well that we could use it to measure our medicine which came in syrup form. He made two of it and we kept pestering him to create more for everyone of us in the house to avoid competition on who would get to use it lol.
Dad has created a lot of items in our home especially for his bedroom. My Bro has also once made a bright torch light by adding different stuffs together and using a battery. I can't even explain how he did it, I bet he'd know better but the outcome was wonderful especially where he made the light change colours.
DIY tools in my home right now? I can't be very detail since I'm not at home but we do have cups, door handle, table, cloth and other items that were not bought but made right in our house. My dad and Bro also solves our electrical issues at home without any help from a professional and it never seem like it wasn't done by a profession.
I actually wish to be more of the type who does or creates things herself at home, mum is like that too by the way so I guess I'm the only one left to get this habit and I'm working on it.
This is my entry to the June Inleo Prompt Challenge with Day 20 focus on "DIY tools you have". Don't know what to write on Hive today? You're invited to participate.
