Even though it's still Christmas break, and I usually embrace the 'no planning' mantra, my alarm rudely interrupted my slumber at 8 am this morning.
Apparently, my body was eager to kick off 2025 with a bang!
I pulled myself out of bed and made it to my 9 am box class.

Initially, I questioned my sanity for signing up for such an early class, but those doubts vanished as soon as I stepped out of the studio.
I felt energized and ready to tackle the day after a refreshing shower.
Coincidentally, my mom called and suggested an afternoon shopping trip.
This was perfect timing as I needed to stock up on some essentials.

With the 'Sale' in full swing, it was the ideal opportunity to snag some bargains.
My first purchase was a must-have: a pair of sturdy winter boots.
Given the impending winter showers, I was on the hunt for tall, leather boots.
As someone who prefers simplicity over bling, I was drawn to these sleek black leather boots.
The soft wool lining was an added bonus, and the 30% discount sealed the deal.

Around 1:30 pm, we indulged in a delicious lunch at my favorite spot – a restaurant renowned for its mouthwatering chicken and egg sandwiches.
A hot latte macchiato warmed us up for the next leg of our shopping adventure.

My mom successfully found a few warm winter sweaters, including two incredibly cozy ones.

The winter color palette here tends to be muted and cool – a stark contrast to the vibrant hues of summer.

I often wonder if this color preference is a Dutch or even a European trend.

Later, we walked around the city center and came onto the "Winter Fever Arena," a big pavilion with a roller skating rink (a great replacement for ice skating), a curling rink, and a cosy patio serving waffles, hot chocolate, and glühwein.

Though the temptation was great, I chose a healthy dinner: pasta with teriyaki sauce, roasted chicken, peas and carrots.

Overall, it was a successful day.

However, a disagreement with my youngest son cast a shadow over the evening.
I'll share more about that another time as I'm still figuring out how to address the situation.
