BREAKING NEWS: AIXBIT HACKED FOR ETH
A major security breach has just occurred on aixbit which has seen the network have 55.5 Ethereum stolen with a value of roughly USD 106,000. Reports suggest the attacker gained access to aixbit's secure dashboard at around 2AM UTC and qued two malicious replies that prompted the bot to transfer the cryptocurrency to the attackers address.
Allegedly the hack didn't occur by hacking the AI Bot but rather manipulating the information that feeds the bot which resulted in it "learning" something new and thinking it was doing the right thing. This provides an insight into the dangers of AI bots and Cryptocurrency which have been seen as a revolutionary game changer that can support smart contracts.
However, it appears the oversight of AI bots learning the wrong thing have not been adequatly addressed and developers now need to keep this new piece of security information at their forefront.
In response to the incident the development team has taken several measures to enhance security. These include migrating servers, swapping access keys, pausing dashboard access for security upgrades and reporting the hacker's addresses to exchanges.
Despite these efforts, the native token AIXBT experienced a sharp decline, dropping approximately 20% to $0.097 in the 24 hours following the hack.
The aixbt team has assured users that core systems remain unaffected and that enhanced security measures are being implemented to prevent future incidents. They emphasized that the stolen funds do not impact core systems or ongoing development.
