Opinion. June 6, 2022. Is Global Population Going to Decline?

Most predictions say that global population is going to exponentially explode, giving rise to resource competition and wars derived from it. However, there are also predictions of population decline, this the problems associated with it.

According to this article, many countries are already experiencing population decline. Globally, this would mean labor shortages, resources used to take care of the elderly and a lack of competitiveness and innovation.

Countries enter population decline when their birthrate is lower than 2.1 children per woman and their immigration rates do not match the population decline. Many countries are already at this fertility rate or less.
