Concept: June 22, 2022. The Fertility Rate of the United States is Decreasing

The fertility rate of a country is measured as the total births per woman average. In order to keep a population steady, 2.3 births per woman are needed.

The current fertility rate in the United States is 1.6 births per woman. This leaves net positive immigration as a means to keep the population growth and to keep also a lower age average. In order to grow, it is essential for a country to have an increasing base of young people able to work and sustain the elderly people who go into retirement.

As a note, the world's average fertility rate is 2.4, and decreasing. Once it reaches 2.3, the population will stop increasing.
