How peanuts grow

I can say that I have traveled all over the Gambia. It's not that difficult, given that the country is one of the smallest in continental Africa, just a 400 by 25 km strip in the Gambia Delta. The country is green, agrarian. The main source of income is the export of peanuts. On one of the plantations we happened to be at harvest time.

I knew how peanuts grow. In my childhood, as an experiment, we planted it in the country and collected a completely edible crop. But for the first time, my companions saw that peanuts do not grow on a tree, like a nut, but underground among the roots of small bushes, like potatoes.
