HydroBlu Versa Flow Water Filter System
By: Senior Hiker 77
The HYDROBLU Vesa Flow water filter is appreciated for its easy-to-use design, with 28mm threading on both ends: a suitable fit for a Smartwater bottle or any other with similar diameter. The differentiated easily visible blue and grey caps signifying clean and dirty water inputs are a standout feature. Absence of washers in the design is an added advantage, ruling out the need for their constant replacement. The filter also includes a built-in tracking system from 1 to 12, possibly for monitoring the months of usage, although this feature could have been made more explanatory. On the downside, the bags which come with the kit are not satisfactory. They're made of hard plastic, which makes them difficult to manage when filled with water, and they also lack labeling or coloring to differentiate between clean and dirty water sacs. Also, the opaque tubing is not to rider's liking as one cannot see the water flow through it.
Despite the shortcomings, the water filter turned out to be quite satisfactory on a camping trip. The CNOC bags, bought separately, were a significant upgrade in the whole setup with their capacity and color coding. It was easy to fill and connect the bags to the filter, however, transferring water from the bags to a Smartwater bottle was a bit of a task. It was a bit cumbersome handling three liters of water in a squishy bag and transferring it to a bottle, but could be managed with some workaround. While the use of the bags and filter is highly recommended, attention to minor details, like a measuring cup for accurate water measurement, might smoothen the process. Despite the minor discomfort, HYDROBLU Vesa Flow water filter is largely recommended for its price and utility.
