Taking my silk trousers to the mountain rivers, or upcycling my grandmas silk dress part II

I did it and I love it!
This time last week I was all wondering how I would dress up if everything was possible. Concluding that it would be silk and cashmere, but that in order to make this vision reality, I was missing silk trousers in my garments.
Therefore, I made myself some silk trousers. Getting one step closer to my perfect set up wardrobe.
In fact, I upcycled the trousers out of a silk two-piece I got from my grandma, consisting of a long skirt and a blouse.
Now I am here, the skirt is no longer what it was. And I cannot think of some trousers I would rather wear than those ones.
But let me start at the beginning.
In order to complete the project, resuming where I had left you last week, I had to:
…add pleats
…unpick them and redo them, multiple times, around the waist
…because the waist is supposed to be bigger than your actual body, but not too big, and not too small eighther.
…in the end I figured it out simply by trying often enough.
…then I made some pockets, from offcuts. I had actually a lot of offcuts left from the skirt, so for once I wasn’t working on the millimeters, afraid I wouldn’t have enough fabric left.
…the example for the pockets I looked up in one of my previous projects from this summer. The red dungarees, that where my overall inspiration for the pattern and the cut of those silk trousers.
That made me realize, how sewing gets easier in a way, with all this practice. Now I sometimes just know what to do, because I have already done it before. I don’t have to invent everything new each time.
…sewing on the pockets was a bit tricky.
…then I cut a waistband
...which I sewed on, obviously
…and then fitted some elastic in the waist-band-tube, I just had created.
When I first tried on the finished trousers, I was quite disappointed. Had my imagination been more glorious than the outcome, once more?
Had staying up late, sacrificing hours of my sleep, been for nothing?
That was my first impression. But it was late, I was tired. No more unpicking and redoing. I just went to bed, slightly disappointed.
The next day, I wore the trousers nevertheless I wasn’t so happy about them.
Somehow, by wearing them, they grew better in my eyes. Until by the end of the day I turned up loving them.
Maybe I just had to get used to them, or simply try them out to in cooperate them in my style?
Now I am obsessed!
Every step I take, the silk fabric is hugging my legs, floating around them. That is so comfortable and soft to the touch. I feel like I am walking through clouds.
Therefore, I thought, that I compared silk with mountain rivers so many times. Why not actually shoot the final outcome in such an environment? A mountain river!
Thank you all for stopping by, it is a pleasure to me, sharing my stories and creations with you!! Have a very lovely week!
PS: Let me know what you think about the outdoor, Fashion-Photos?!:) Since it is quite the first time I do it this way, I am very curious for any thoughts about it!
