This is an update for this post:

I managed to get through the whole procedure and survived. I had allsorts going through my head which actually made the procedure worse that it was.

I arrived 20 minutes before my appointment giving me a little time to calm down and watch some of the Queens funeral. The TVs in the hospital were all showing the funeral. There was a couple of people before me but I really shouldn't have worried as all the staff were amazing as was the Doctors doing the tests.

I was firstly assessed by a young Asian guy, he was really friendly and very reassuring. He went through the procedures with me and having a little joke about the pipe they use, he said make sure they do the mouth one first as they only have the one pipe, Ghastly thought but thankfully he was joking.

After I was assessed he brought me a bag with the clothes I needed to change into, a lovely hospital gown with a lovely pair of modesty pants then he inserted the cannula into my arm so they could add the sedative.

Once I was dressed and ready the Doctor doing the procedure and his next in charge cane to meet me and walked me to the room. Hubby headed off to the waiting room to watch more of the funeral whilst I got comfortable on the bed. I was given the throat spray first, horrible taste but soon numbed my mouth, I then lay down to be then given the sedative, they wouldn't give me a full dose as my blood pressure was raised and I was dehydrated. Next was an air tube shoved up my nose to help me breath then a mouth guard placed in my mouth for the pipe/ camera to be inserted. Once the pipe is in your mouth the Doctor asks you to swallow which helps direct the pipe the right way. I then had to lay still whilst he took a look around. I could feel the pipe inside of me which was very uncomfortable but not painful. This lasted for around 10 minutes then he removed the pipe slowly. The worst part was over.

I was then told to lie still whilst they turn the bed around for the Colonoscopy. This pipe is inserted into your back end. Its not a to bad until its pushed further in when you can feel the pressure which is really uncomfortable. This took a little longer than the upper test. Once he had finished the nurse pushed me and the bed back to the ward. I was allowed a drink and biscuit here then once finished I was asked if I felt OK then allowed to get dressed then taken into another room with my hubby whilst the nurse told me what they had found. I have Gastritis, an inflamed stomach and confirmed the Diverticulum disease, I was given leaflets on how to handle these Two problems and told the Doctor will either phone or write as he did take some samples. I was then allowed to go home. I had to have someone with me for 24 hours after the tests.

I was glad to get home, glad to think it was all over. I will have to wait until the specialist gets in touch once the samples have been tested, hopefully they found nothing else.

I couldn't fault the attention recieved, the whole team were amazing, at one point whilst I was in the recovery room 5 of the nurses brought in the laptop so we could all watch more of the Queens funeral. They werw all amazing and made the day alot easier calming my worries and making me laugh.

I am waiting for MRI appointment plus have another blood test appointment on Friday then hopefully that's it. I have to start having a high fibre diet to keep the Diverticulum calm . I'm going to have to do some reading and sorting out some recipies for hubby to make me and my daughter as she wants to wat more fibre to.

Thank you for visiting. 馃挓馃挓
