Today a patent is a right conferred on an inventor by which he has the ability to exclusively market and exploit said invention for a limited period of time, in many cases 20 years.

The requirements to patent a new invention are internationally recognized, all industrial property and patent offices require that the requirements be met are:

The novelty; it has to be new something identical cannot exist in the state of the art.

inventive activity; what it requires is that it should not be obvious to an expert in that technical field.

The applicability; it is the industrial application, what is contained in the patent document can be repeated many times, can be carried out and can be successful.

So you can patent products, procedures, objects, concepts as broad as ideas or these types of issues that cannot be patented,

To clarify, many times people think that a very good idea can be patented, ideas cannot be patented, ideas have to be materialized in a product or a procedure and that can be patented, in the end the patent is not it ceases to be the incorporation of a technical solution to a concrete problem.

If you think that it is better not to patent your idea, because you have a secret procedure and you think that they cannot copy it, then you are very wrong; since with reverse engineering you can copy it and in that case you would not have any right, any prerogative and any legal benefit, and very sadly, as has happened in history, the reputation that the patent gives the inventor.

Today the company has a portfolio of patents, and when we talk to one company it will absorb another, and if it does not have that portfolio of patents or many industrial designs, the business does not prosper; At this level, the creation of patents is essential.

In this sense, the patent offers innumerable advantages and that we must lose our fear of that supposed idea that it is precisely if it is patented that they are going to copy the technology, and it is precisely the other way around, if you have the patent, and they copy you your technology, you have the argument to defend.

In addition, since technological information is patented, it becomes public after a few months, therefore, it is available to the entire scientific community, they could analyze what this invention is and that it would mean the last step on the frontier of that technology and from that last step the source the technology continue to innovate.

The patent system precisely encourages subsequent innovation and also encourages technology transfer since it creates legal certainty for later licensing, concessions, etc.

Well that's all, the subject of patents is a very big world that combines ingenuity and the legal, if you have a more or less crazy invention, or you are a restless person with futuristic ideas, I invite you to capture it to improve life.
