Here's the ruleset
So, I'm facing the fire splinter and there's no magic attacks. I'm expecting to face a lot of melee attacks and/or ranged attacks. If my opponent has Yodin then I'm screwed, but most people can't afford Yodin, so I'm expecting a lof of melee attacks.
Lineup:
Summoner: Tarsa
Tarsa buffs my melee attacks and my life total.
Tank: Living Lava
Living Lava is still the premiere tank in the fire splinter. The Shield ability reduces damage from all of my opponent's attacks in this ruleset.
1st position: Molten Ogre
The Demoralize ability reduces damage from my opponent's melee attackers which I expect to make up a majority of their team.
2nd position: Disintegrator
The Demoralize ability is stackable. I was expecting to face Tarsa which means that while they plan to have +1 melee for all of their attackers or maybe have that ability negated with a Disintegrator, they end up with -1 melee overall.
3rd position: Tenyii Striker
Great stats all around, all paired with the Sneak ability.
4th position: Serpentine Spy
This monster can deal a lot of damage in just the right spot, but it's also a little fragile. A lot of near mirror matches in the fire splinter come down to whose Serpentine Spy kills the opponent's Serpentine Spy.
Rear tank: Lava Spider
I found that I use this monster a lot more since it was featured in the weekly battle challenge. It also comes with a decent life total where I'm expecting it to be hit with a Tenyii Striker from my opponent. It holds up very well thanks to the double Demoralize.
Did my strategy work?
Yes, I got the W. I actually faced a couple of good ranged attackers that come out frequently for the fire team. They were important in keeping this battle a little closer for my opponent.
Do I like Molten Ogre?
Yes, it's always fun to Demoralize my opponent and when I'm in the fire splinter with an adequate mana cap I see this as a strict upgrade over Disintegrator.
What will I try differently next time?
I sometimes take Uraeus over Serpentine spy for that 1 armor. I was expecting to see a Serpentine Spy in my opponent's lineup which may have taken mine out. I think that Serpentine Spy ended up being a better choice in this particular match as it handled my opponent's ranged attackers.
As always thanks for reading. I appreciate your reposts, replies, upvotes and follows. I'll see you in the game.
