My Excursion to Ogbunike Cave

Ogbunike cave
The ogbunike cave is located at Ogbunike village, Anambra Nigeria. It has been a home for tourist for its ecstasy and nature wonders. The ogbunike cave carnival is done every 31st of December each year bringing people from far and near to the beauty of the ancient cave. The cave is said to have been a hidding place for our forefathers during the war.
 

The cave's rules and regulations
Immediately we arrived at the cave this was the first signpost that met us, we were directed to go read the rules to know if we are qualified to enter the cave as ladies. Unfortunately, one of my friends is on her monthly cycle and wasn't allowed to enter the cave. As the rules stated.

The cave was quiet as at the time we arrived, we came earlier for pictures,the cave is said to have 346 staircase, we climbed them all with the help of the cave assistant

Another group joined us

While we were there a group came for their excursion too, they were in their numbers, the quiet cave became very loud in talks and laughter, people taking pictures while the others panicked on seeing how dark the cave looked through the entrance.

We were divided in groups

Due to the number of persons on groud we were all divided into 3 groups, we entered the cave one group after another, though some people out of fear could not enter the cave.

How the cave looks inside
The cave was very dark and you can only see with the help of touch light, it was like a tunnel we bent through it, some were crawling even. The smell oozing from the cave is suffocating, I was practically begging for air, I have to stop half way and was escorted out with others who had same feeling as mine

It was indeed an unforgettable experience being here, scary but fun.

The door at which we followed in to the cave is not same we came out from, we found ourselves to this flowing stream and our joy knew no bound having a fresh breath and a place to wash off.
