Hello, my dearest Hivers! I hope you're all doing fine wherever you are. Today, please allow me to share with you how my internship journey went. So, to give you a little background, I spent my on-the-job training (OJT) in the shipping industry, specifically Ocean Fast Ferries, Inc., commonly known as Oceanjet. I was a marketing intern there. Yes, was, because I just finished my 600-hour duration. Overall, it was full of unforgettable experiences, and it has been a wonderful journey. I've learned a lot. Now, I'll be just giving you some details about what exactly we were doing there as marketing interns. Thus, this would seem to be like detailing "A Life of a Marketing Intern" here. It has been after all a productive journey. That's why I love to share it with you.

So we're like having a rotation every two weeks. We're assigned at the main office for admin works and at the port to support general ground operations. On our first week, I am providing customer service through phone calls and emails. It has been quite challenging for me; I have no work experience and it's a new environment. I was dealing with different concerns from locals and foreigners. Despite being just a newbie at the office, I'm so grateful that my mentors have acknowledged my little contribution.

“Because you're a good girl, you have cookies!”

This one definitely melted my heart. It may seem like just a simple gesture, but this meant a lot to me. The thought of being acknowledged feels so heart overwhelming.

At the office, what I regularly do was managing and optimizing Oceanjet's digital platforms, especially handling Facebook engagements and messages. It's my daily routine, but much more than that, I edit vessel tarpaulins using Adobe Photoshop with, of course, guidance from our marketing head. I'm grateful because she enthusiastically taught me stuff, with so much dedication.
I, together with the other interns, also initiate layouting and editing tarpaulins. For example, this one is for the company's upcoming sportsfest. We aren't experts, by the way, so what we usually do is make 3 layouts and let our marketing lead tell what to improve and then choose the better one. That's how we do it.

Additionally, staying ahead of the pack is a must. So, in order to stay at the top of the competition, we should have advanced knowledge in everything in light of additional marketing insights. We made different survey questionnaires, conducted surveys, in terms of passengers' embarkation and disembarkation experiences. That way, we were able to know if we have met or exceeded customers' needs and preferences, what areas to improve for their satisfactory experience. You know, customers should be put first, their demands, their needs. We also conducted a competitor analysis survey so that we will be able to know what marketing efforts should be done.

We regularly plan and make promotional materials. For example, this one we've made layouts for the vessels' headdress. So, just like the usual routine, brainstorming ideas, collaborating, and then I'd sketch three different layouts, then let our marketing lead choose the best one.

Every time we're at the port, we would assist with general operations and have direct engagement with Oceanjet's local and foreign passengers and prospects, handling their concerns and queries. This is also where we conduct our surveys. Apart from that, we also print out QR codes intended for passengers' feedbacks and suggestions and then hop onto all the vessels as we would put it there together with other visual and marketing materials. https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/jeannmazing/23zks2ZCLNmhUhTK7nMMuWsWSgzKgzCTRYVidhELnT8F37v4GGMERBPd8imWBj9eLnWJW.jpg

Overall, that's how my internship journey went. That was, of course, bearable because of the amazing people around me, who mentored me since day one. Those tasks are just some I did; the rest is history. I've learned a lot. It has shaped me personally and professionally. I'm grateful for Oceanjet as well for everything.
