All Souls' Day | Our Neighborhood's Mausoleum

As mentioned in my All Souls' Day blog last year (see:This is how we celebrated all saints' day), we visit our loved ones and light candles every 1st of November. This year is no different. So for today's blog, I would like to show you around in our neighborhood mausoleum. Quick disclaimer though, these are just random mausoleum that we passed by and thought the architecture is beautiful.

After watching the movie How to make millions before grandma dies, i now understand that the reason why some families wish to have a big mausoleum/ house for their loved ones is for them to have a place to get together hoping that after several years, they will not be forgotten.


This secluded corner feels like a mini temple for their beloved ones. I have a feeling they've been in this place since 1900s. Usually, families placed their last name on top of the mausoleum for people to easily recognize it.



For some, they opted for high ceilings so that fresh air can occupy the space. Unfortunately, these are quite expensive so only a few have high ceiling.


Another common style of mausoleum is open air. These are common and more practical for big families since it has greater space and fresh air.


This garage style mausoleum is by far the most unique i've ever seen. The walls are made of bricks, looking very sturdy.


We ended our walk in this chapel located at the center of Cempark.

Regardless of the design of the mausoleum, or the absence of it, people share the same goal, to make every All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day special and memorable. In these houses, i hope many family ties rekindled; relationships start anew.
