Live Soda Root Beer: An Amateurish (Root) Beer Review

And now, for something completely different.
The glass does not contain water. That is root beer, or at least that's what the can says. Zevia (not pictured here) is also clear, so this is not entirely unprecedented. I think caramel color is avoided by many healthy-ish brands for various reasons.
The big selling point for this brand is an infusion of probiotics. It is also sweetened with erythritol and monk fruit extract. This adds an odd flavor. Of course, the stevia in Zevia tastes odd, too, but it's a very different sort of odd. And as for taste, the "natural flavors" leave a lot to be desired. This particular root beer is just bland. In contrast, Zevia ginger root beer is somewhat robust. This is just watery.
If you're on a low-sugar diet, look elsewhere for your root beer fix. If you need probiotics, I don't recommend this as a pleasant way to get them into your digestive system, either. Try yogurt, non-dairy yogurt alternatives, or just swallow a damn pill.
